The short version
- Each has a real cost: Sight Machine onboarding is a data engineering project measured in months per plant, so value arrives long after the contract starts and the internal sponsor needs the patience and budget to survive that gap.; SKF Enlight Centre no pricing is published for the software, the sensors, the gateways or the remote diagnostic services, so the total cost of a deployment only emerges after a site survey and a quotation.
- They diverge on capability: Sight Machine covers Unified plant data model, SKF Enlight Centre covers Asset-based interface.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
Sight Machine
- A corporate operations team that cannot compare plant performance because every site defines a stoppage differentlynot SKF Enlight Centre
- A manufacturer whose historian data is plentiful but has never been modelled into anything a business can querynot SKF Enlight Centre
- A group standardising manufacturing reporting into a cloud data warehouse alongside finance and supply chain datanot SKF Enlight Centre

SKF Enlight Centre
- A shipowner monitoring auxiliary engines, purifiers and pumps across a fleet without a vibration analyst on each vesselnot Sight Machine
- A plant already standardised on SKF bearings that wants failure-mode diagnosis from the bearing manufacturernot Sight Machine
- An operator replacing paper-based handheld routes with ProCollect while keeping the same measurement pointsnot Sight Machine
- A site in a hazardous classified area needing certified wireless sensing rather than manual data collectionnot Sight Machine
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Sight Machine
- Onboarding is a data engineering project measured in months per plant, so value arrives long after the contract starts and the internal sponsor needs the patience and budget to survive that gap.
- It assumes the instrumentation already exists, so a plant whose machines produce no usable data gets nothing from a data platform and needs to solve connectivity first with a different class of product.
- Pricing scales with plants and data volume and is never published, which puts it out of reach for single site manufacturers regardless of how relevant the capability sounds.
- It is not an MES and does not control or execute anything, so it sits on top of the operational systems and adds a layer to maintain rather than replacing one.
- Success depends on a central team that owns definitions and enforces them, and in groups where plants retain autonomy the standardisation the platform provides gets quietly ignored at site level.
SKF Enlight Centre
- No pricing is published for the software, the sensors, the gateways or the remote diagnostic services, so the total cost of a deployment only emerges after a site survey and a quotation.
- The platform is built for SKF sensing hardware, so third-party sensors are poorly served and you are effectively committing to SKF for the life of the installation.
- Remote diagnostic services are a separate ongoing contract, and without them the platform gives you data rather than verdicts, which most buyers of Enlight Centre do not have the staff to interpret.
- SKF has run overlapping condition monitoring products including @ptitude Observer and Enlight AI, and the boundaries between them have shifted over time, which makes long-term product roadmap commitments hard to read.
- Battery-powered wireless sensors on shipboard or high-vibration installations need periodic replacement, and that maintenance burden falls on crews who were the reason you automated collection in the first place.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Sight Machine: Is this an OEE product?
It can produce OEE, but buying it for OEE alone is expensive. The reason to buy it is cross plant data standardisation.
SKF Enlight Centre: Is Enlight Centre a single product or a family?
SKF Enlight is a family. Enlight Centre is the web software; Enlight Collect IMx-1 is the wireless sensing hardware and Enlight AI is a separate analytics product.
Sight Machine: Does it need a historian?
It reads from historians, control systems and MES. Some source of machine data is a prerequisite.
SKF Enlight Centre: Can I use non-SKF sensors?
Not meaningfully. The platform is designed around SKF sensing hardware and SKF service delivery.
Sight Machine: How long does a plant take to onboard?
Plan in months per plant, depending on how many sources and how inconsistent the existing definitions are.
SKF Enlight Centre: Does SKF analyse the data for me?
Only under a remote diagnostic services contract with an SKF Rotating Equipment Performance Centre, priced separately.
Sight Machine: Who is the buyer?
A corporate manufacturing, quality or digital function. It is rarely a plant level purchase.
SKF Enlight Centre: Is it suitable for ships?
Yes, marine is one of its primary segments and it is designed for intermittent satellite connectivity.
