Where each one falls short

Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.

Regpack

  • Plan prices are no longer published, so a buyer must enter a sales process before knowing whether the product is in budget, and cannot benchmark the quote against a list price.
  • The conditional logic that makes it capable also makes it slow to configure, and complex registrations often take days of setup and testing rather than an afternoon.
  • The applicant-facing interface is dated compared with modern form products, which matters when the form is the first impression a parent has of your programme.
  • Because Regpack processes the payments, switching platforms means moving your merchant relationship and any stored instalment schedules, which raises the real cost of leaving well above the licence.
  • Reporting is built around applicants and balances rather than programme analytics, so organisations wanting attendance, capacity or cohort analysis export the data elsewhere.

Zkipster

  • The pricing page names three tiers but publishes no rate for any of them
  • Essentials is capped at 60 events per year or 10 per month and Professional at 80 per year or 20 per month
  • Guests are capped at 10,000 per event on Essentials and Professional
  • Event communications, floor plans, seating and name badges require the Professional plan
  • SMS, WhatsApp and Wallet Pass require Professional or higher
  • API access requires an annual Professional plan or an Enterprise add on
  • Advanced security and compliance tools and priority support are Enterprise only
  • zkipster Audience is banded by contact volume, so cost rises with the contact list rather than with features

Answered from the vendors’ own pages

Regpack: What does Regpack cost?

Plan prices are not published. Three tiers exist, SMB, Mid-Market and Mid-Market Plus, all annual and all quoted. The published number is the processing rate, from as low as 1.5%.

Zkipster: How does zkipster billing work?

Monthly Events plans are billed every month on a rolling basis until manually canceled. Annual plans cost upfront for 12 months and offer up to 50% savings versus monthly billing.

Source
Regpack: Is the 1.5% rate realistic?

It is the floor, dependent on volume and card mix. Ask for your quoted effective rate against your actual card mix rather than the advertised minimum.

Zkipster: What payment methods does zkipster accept?

zkipster accepts all major credit cards. Wire and bank transfer are available for certain plans. SMS and add-ons require credit card payment.

Source
Regpack: Can it handle payment plans?

Yes, and that is one of its stronger areas: automatic instalments, deposits and partial payments with per-applicant balances.

Zkipster: Are there overage fees?

Events plans include annual allowances (60-100 events per year). Additional events incur charges in the next billing period. Audience has per-contact overage pricing.

Source
Regpack: How hard is it to switch away?

Harder than most registration tools, because Regpack also processes your payments. Plan for moving merchant processing and any live instalment schedules.

Zkipster: What happens if I cancel my subscription?

Accounts remain active through the current billing period after cancellation. Account owners can still access and download data even after the subscription lapses.
