The short version

  • Each has a real cost: Moxie each module is weaker than the specialist product it replaces, so a freelancer with a demanding requirement in any one area will find the bundled version limiting.; Subskribe the vendor own calculator points to roughly 140,000 USD per year as a starting point, which puts it out of reach for small companies and makes it a finance systems decision rather than a sales tooling one.
  • They diverge on capability: Moxie covers Proposals with e signature, Subskribe covers Unified order model.
  • Prices and features above were last checked on 31 August 2026.

Where each one falls short

Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.

Moxie

  • Each module is weaker than the specialist product it replaces, so a freelancer with a demanding requirement in any one area will find the bundled version limiting.
  • The shared data model that makes the bundle convenient also makes leaving expensive, because proposals, time entries and invoices come out as one tangled export rather than as separable tools.
  • It is designed around a solo operator, so adding subcontractors, splitting revenue or managing a small team runs into limits quickly.
  • Client payments are processed through a third party gateway, so the card processing fee applies on top of the subscription and should be modelled into the true cost per invoice.
  • A large amount of published review material still refers to the product as Hectic, which makes independent research harder and dates much of what is written about it.

Subskribe

  • The vendor own calculator points to roughly 140,000 USD per year as a starting point, which puts it out of reach for small companies and makes it a finance systems decision rather than a sales tooling one.
  • No pricing is published anywhere, so a like-for-like comparison against alternatives requires running a full sales cycle with each vendor before any numbers exist.
  • Adopting it means moving your revenue system of record to a young company, and migrating live contracts and historical schedules is a multi-month finance project rather than a configuration exercise.
  • The implementation partner and consultant ecosystem is small next to Salesforce CPQ or Conga, so if the internal project stalls there are few outside firms to bring in.
  • It expects to own the order record even when the CRM stays in place, which means sales teams work partly outside Salesforce and adoption depends on that being accepted rather than fought.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages

Moxie: Is Moxie the same product as Hectic?

Yes. It was renamed in 2022. Older reviews under the Hectic name describe the same software at an earlier stage.

Subskribe: What does Subskribe cost?

It is not published. The vendor pricing calculator produces estimates around 140,000 USD per year for a full quote-to-revenue deployment on a sample profile.

Moxie: Does it take a percentage of my invoices?

The payment processor takes its standard card fee. Model that separately from the subscription when comparing total cost.

Subskribe: Can I buy just the CPQ?

Yes, CPQ, Billing and the combined Quote-to-Revenue package are sold separately, all on quoted pricing.

Moxie: Can I use it with a team?

It is built for a solo operator. Subcontractors and multi person billing are handled awkwardly.

Subskribe: Does it replace Salesforce?

No. It integrates with Salesforce or HubSpot for CRM but keeps the order, billing and revenue record in Subskribe.

Moxie: Can I keep my accountant in the loop?

Yes, through the accounting integration, though most freelancers still reconcile manually at year end.

Subskribe: Why not just use a CPQ plus a billing tool?

That works until deals have ramps and amendments. The reconciliation between the two systems is the cost Subskribe is designed to remove.

Moxie: What is the exit path?

Exports exist, but the linked proposal, time and invoice data does not map cleanly onto separate replacement tools.
