DropControl is WiseConn’s irrigation and fertigation automation platform. Solar-powered radio nodes in the RF series sit at valves, filters, pumps and sensor points, reporting soil moisture, flow, pressure and level back to a cloud platform that schedules irrigation, controls valves and raises alerts. WiseConn was founded in Chile in 2006 and now operates from Fresno, California as well as Santiago, having expanded into Latin America, the United States, Mexico, Australia and Europe, with an equity investment from Morningside Group in 2023 funding that expansion. The technical decision that sells it is wireless. Most irrigation automation of this class assumes a two-wire or hard-wired path to every valve, which on an established orchard means trenching through root zones and across access roads. WiseConn’s nodes are solar and radio-linked, so retrofitting an existing block is an install day rather than a civil works project. That is the practical reason it appears on shortlists for mature permanent-crop ground rather than only new plantings. Buyers are almond, pistachio, citrus, table grape and berry operations in California, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Australia and Spain, where water cost and water reporting dominate. WiseConn publishes no pricing at all, sells through consultation and design, and the platform depends entirely on its own node hardware, so the software and the radio network are a single commitment. It is also a mid-sized private company against Netafim, Toro and Lindsay, which matters for long-term support on a fifteen-year orchard.
