What Vet Radar does
Vet Radar replaces the paper treatment sheet and the wall whiteboard used for hospitalised patients. Nurses record fluid rates, medications, monitoring parameters and completed tasks on a tablet at the kennel, and the system schedules the next task, flags overdue items and builds an anaesthetic and monitoring record. Completed items generate charges that post back into the practice management system. The distinguishing point is revenue capture rather than clinical documentation. Inpatient care is where practices systematically lose money, because a paper sheet records what was done for the patient but nothing carries it to the invoice, and the discrepancy is discovered too late to bill. A treatment sheet that is also a billing feed changes that, and the size of the recovered revenue is usually what justifies the subscription. This only works to the extent that the integration with the practice system is complete, which is why it is deepest with ezyVet, the system it was built alongside. Buyers are small-animal hospitals with meaningful inpatient and surgical caseloads, emergency and specialist centres, and groups standardising nursing workflow across sites. The trade-off is compounding vendor concentration. Vet Radar and ezyVet are both IDEXX, and IDEXX also supplies the analysers and reference laboratory work, so adding it deepens a relationship that already covers software and diagnostics.

Do I need ezyVet to use Vet Radar?
No, it integrates with other practice management systems, but the charge capture and patient sync are most complete with ezyVet and that is where the revenue argument is strongest.
How is this different from a paper treatment sheet?
A paper sheet records care. Vet Radar records care and turns each completed item into a billable line, which is the part paper cannot do.
Does it work offline?
It is a cloud application. Ward tablets need reliable wireless coverage, including in areas like isolation and theatre where practice wifi is often weakest.
