Overview
Rad AI, founded in 2018 by radiologist Jeff Chang and Doktor Gurson, sells three products to radiology groups and health systems. Impressions generates the impression section of a report from the findings the radiologist has dictated, in that radiologist personal style. Reporting extends this to full report generation inside the existing dictation workflow. Continuity tracks incidental findings and follow-up recommendations across the population and chases the imaging that was recommended but never booked. What distinguishes Rad AI commercially is a regulatory posture rather than an algorithm. The products draft language and manage workflow; they do not interpret pixels and do not claim a diagnostic finding, so they sit outside the FDA device pathway that slows every image-analysis vendor. That is why a practice can deploy Impressions in weeks while an AI triage tool takes a year of validation and governance. It also means the clinical claim is narrower than the marketing suggests: what has been measured is dictation time reduction and follow-up completion rates, not diagnostic accuracy improvement. Continuity is the product with the clearest revenue argument, because completed follow-up imaging is billable and currently large volumes of it simply never happen. Buyers are private radiology practices and hospital radiology departments where reading volume is outpacing recruitment. The trade off is workflow dependency: the products live inside the reporting workflow and therefore inside your dictation vendor and PACS, so integration quality varies with what you already run, and switching either later means revisiting the Rad AI deployment too.
