US financial data aggregation with heavy transaction cleansing and enrichment
As of 31 August 2026, MX Technologies's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. MX aggregates US bank account data like its competitors but sells on what it does after the data arrives: categorising, deduplicating and attaching merchant identities to transaction descriptions that arrive as unreadable strings. Softwr lists it under APIs. MX Technologies is made by MX Technologies, Inc., available on API, Web.
Overview
MX Technologies is a financial data platform based in Lehi, Utah. It provides account aggregation through direct bank APIs and, where those do not exist, credential based connections, together with account verification, balance checks and payment initiation support. Its distinguishing layer is data enhancement: raw transaction descriptions from core banking systems are cryptic strings, and MX cleanses them, assigns categories, resolves merchant identity and attaches logos, so that a downstream product can show a user something legible. That matters commercially because the customers are disproportionately banks and credit unions rather than startups. A bank building a personal finance view inside its own app has already got the account data; what it lacks is the ability to make its own transaction feed readable, and it will not build a merchant resolution pipeline. This is also why MX competes on data quality metrics rather than on connection counts, and why its pricing conversations look like enterprise software rather than usage based API pricing. The buyer is a product or digital banking team at a US financial institution, or a fintech that needs enriched rather than raw data. The trade offs are geography and access. MX is United States focused, so a company with European users needs a second provider. And as the US moves to regulated API access under the FDX standard and screen scraping is deprecated, the coverage that matters is which institutions expose a real API; MX cannot obtain data a bank refuses to share, and the long tail of small credit unions remains where connection quality is weakest. Pricing is not published.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about MX Technologies.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
It sells transaction cleansing, categorisation and merchant resolution as a first class product, including on data you already hold, which is why financial institutions rather than startups are its core customers.
No. MX is United States focused. European coverage requires a different provider such as Tink.
No. Contracts are quoted by connected users, call volume and modules, with enhancement licensed separately from aggregation.
It uses direct bank APIs where institutions expose them and credential based connections elsewhere. The credential path is being deprecated across the industry, and coverage quality now tracks which banks have real APIs.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for MX Technologies, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
