INSTANDA

No-code product builder that lets underwriters configure and launch insurance products themselves

As of 31 August 2026, INSTANDA's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A configuration platform where underwriters build products, rating and questions through a browser rather than filing a change request with IT. Softwr lists it under Insurance. INSTANDA is available on Web, API.

Overview

What INSTANDA does

INSTANDA is a policy administration and product configuration platform sold on the premise that the people who design insurance products should be able to build them without developers. Product definitions, question sets, rating logic, document templates and workflow are configured in a browser interface, and the resulting product is exposed through a portal and an API. It is used across personal lines, commercial lines and speciality, and has a strong presence among managing general agents. The commercial argument is speed of iteration. An MGA testing a niche product wants to change a rating factor on a Tuesday and see the effect on Wednesday, and on a conventional platform that is a release cycle. INSTANDA compresses it to a configuration change made by the underwriting team. This is genuinely different from vendors that use the word no-code to describe a toolkit that still requires certified consultants, and it is worth validating in a proof of concept with your own product and your own staff doing the building. The boundary matters. INSTANDA covers product, quoting, policy administration and basic billing and claims recording; it does not replace a finance system, a full claims platform, a commissions engine or a data warehouse. Buyers who treat it as a complete core suite end up integrating four other systems around it and are surprised by the total. Buyers who treat it as the product and distribution layer sitting in front of existing infrastructure generally get what they expected. It is a British company, and its regulatory and market fit is strongest in the United Kingdom and Europe, with a growing but younger North American base.

What people use it for

  • An MGA launching a niche product in weeks and iterating rating without a development cycle
  • A broker building an own-brand scheme on top of a capacity agreement
  • A carrier running product experiments away from the core policy system
  • An embedded insurance programme where the product must be exposed through a partner API

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about INSTANDA.

  • It is a product and policy layer, not a full core suite, so claims, finance, commissions and reporting are integrations you pay for separately and the total is well above the licence quote.
  • No-code configuration puts product logic in the hands of underwriters, which is fast but also means product changes can bypass the change control and testing discipline an IT-owned release would enforce.
  • Complex rating that needs external models, machine learning scores or intricate referral hierarchies pushes past what browser configuration handles cleanly.
  • Market presence is concentrated in the United Kingdom and Europe, so North American buyers will find fewer local references and less familiarity with state filing workflows.
  • As configuration grows across many product versions it becomes its own maintenance burden, and without discipline you accumulate variants nobody remembers the reason for.

Questions people ask

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

Can underwriters really build products without developers?

Yes for mainstream product structures, and this is worth testing in a proof of concept with your own staff. Complex rating that calls external models still needs engineering.

Is it a complete core system?

No. It covers product, quoting and policy administration well. Claims, finance and commissions are separate systems you integrate.

Where is it strongest geographically?

The United Kingdom and Europe, particularly among MGAs. North American deployments exist but the reference base is younger.
