Eagle Eye Networks: Cloud-hosted with per-camera monthly pricing instead of perpetual licences and servers

Unified video, access control and licence plate platform sold in perpetual channel licences plus an annual maintenance contract
As of 1 September 2026, Genetec Security Center's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. The platform most large enterprise and government security operations centres run. Softwr lists it under Cybersecurity. Genetec Security Center is made by Genetec Inc., available on Windows, Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
Security Center is Genetec’s unified platform combining Omnicast video management, Synergis access control, AutoVu automatic licence plate recognition and the Security Desk operator client into one interface with one set of alarms, maps and privileges. It is manufacturer-agnostic on cameras and readers, supporting thousands of device models, which is the main reason airports, transit authorities, cities and large campuses standardise on it rather than on a camera maker’s own software. The licensing structure decides the budget. Genetec publishes no price list and sells only through certified integrators, and every quote is built from the same parts: video channel licences priced per camera, access control and ALPR modules, server appliances, integrator labour, and Genetec Advantage, the annual software maintenance agreement. Third-party estimates put on-premises video licensing in the region of 150 to 250 US dollars per camera and Advantage at roughly 18 to 22 percent of licence value each year, which on a 500-camera site is a five-figure annual sum on top of the capital purchase. Without Advantage the software keeps running but stops receiving version upgrades and support, and reinstating it later typically means paying back-dated coverage. Buyers are enterprises and public bodies with in-house security operations and an integrator relationship. Genetec is privately held in Montreal, which insulates the roadmap from quarterly pressure. The trade-off is complexity: this is a system that needs a trained operator, a maintained Windows server estate and an integrator on call, and it is heavily oversized for a business with twenty cameras.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Genetec Security Center.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Genetec does not publish prices. Independent estimates put on-premises video channel licences in the region of 150 to 250 US dollars per camera by edition, plus annual Advantage maintenance at roughly 18 to 22 percent of licence value.
Technically yes, but without it you get no version upgrades and no support, and reinstating it later usually means paying for the lapsed period.
No. It is sold exclusively through certified integrators, who also do the design and commissioning.
It supports thousands of models across manufacturers, which is its core advantage over camera-maker software, though NDAA-restricted brands should be checked against your own procurement rules.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Genetec Security Center, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
