AI resolution and ticket triage layered on top of an existing helpdesk
As of 31 August 2026, Forethought's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. An AI support platform that resolves tickets autonomously and tags incoming ones by intent, sitting on top of Zendesk, Salesforce, Freshdesk or Intercom rather than replacing them. Softwr lists it under Customer Support. Forethought is made by Forethought Technologies, Inc., available on Web.
Overview
Forethought sells four things that ship together: Solve, which answers and closes tickets across chat, email, voice and Slack; Triage, which tags incoming tickets by intent, sentiment and priority and routes them; Assist, which drafts replies for human agents; and Discover, which finds gaps in your knowledge base and workflows. It is not a helpdesk. It installs on top of one and reads its ticket history to learn. The distinguishing mechanic is Autoflows. Instead of building decision trees, you write the outcome you want in plain language and the model plans the multi-step path, calling Custom Actions into your own APIs to check an order status or issue a refund. That removes most of the branch maintenance that makes traditional support bots decay, and it is the reason Forethought lands in accounts that already tried and abandoned a rules-based bot. The commercial consequence is that billing is outcome based, per resolution, on top of a platform access fee, so a month where deflection works well is a month with a bigger invoice. Buyers are support organisations of a few hundred agents upwards with years of ticket history. Forethought needs roughly twenty thousand historical tickets and a couple of thousand a month to perform, which excludes small teams outright. The trade-off arrived in March 2026: Zendesk acquired Forethought for a reported sum north of two hundred million dollars, its biggest deal in around two decades. Zendesk says the product stays available to non-Zendesk customers. If your helpdesk is Salesforce Service Cloud or Freshdesk, you are now buying your AI layer from your helpdesk vendor’s direct competitor, and integration parity is a thing to write into the contract rather than assume.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Forethought.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Zendesk Answer Bot: If you are already on Zendesk and your volumes are modest, the native option avoids a second vendor and a second contract entirely.

Kore.ai: Kore.ai suits organisations wanting one conversational AI platform across support, HR and IT rather than a support-only tool.

No. It installs on top of Zendesk, Salesforce Service Cloud, Freshdesk or Intercom and reads their ticket history. You keep paying for the helpdesk.
No. Forethought runs a Proof of Value programme instead, which is a scoped paid or sales-managed pilot rather than a self-serve trial.
Zendesk says yes. Treat that as a commitment to negotiate rather than a guarantee, and ask for connector parity terms in writing.
Platform access fee plus outcome-based charging per resolution, with usage overages. Nothing is published; every deal is quoted.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Forethought, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
