As of 1 September 2026, Emlid Studio is free to use. Emlid gives away the post-processing software that most survey vendors charge for. Softwr lists it under Maps. Emlid Studio is made by Emlid, available on Windows, macOS.

What Emlid Studio does
Emlid Studio takes raw GNSS observation logs and produces corrected positions. It converts proprietary logs to RINEX, post-processes static occupations for base coordinates, runs kinematic post-processing to correct a rover track, applies post-processed kinematic correction to drone imagery using a base log and the drone event marks, and extracts points collected in the Emlid Flow field app. It runs on Windows and macOS. The commercial point is that it is free and it is not restricted to Emlid hardware. Post-processing software from the established survey manufacturers is typically a paid module in an office suite costing thousands, and often tied to that manufacturer's receivers. Emlid Studio accepts RINEX from any receiver, which means a firm with mixed equipment, or a drone operator whose base station is not an Emlid Reach, can still use it. Emlid sells GNSS receivers, so the software is a hardware pull rather than a business in its own right; that is what makes it free, and it is also the reason to think about longevity if the hardware business changes direction. Users are surveyors, drone mapping operators, researchers and archaeologists doing centimetre-level work on a small budget. The trade-off is scope: this is post-processing, not network adjustment, not a full office suite and not a place to manage a survey project, and its support is a community forum rather than a contracted service desk.
