Elvanto

Church management with strong volunteer rostering, now owned by Tithe.ly

As of 1 September 2026, Elvanto starts at $72/month. An Australian-built church management system whose service scheduling and volunteer rostering are its reason to exist. Softwr lists it under Religion. Elvanto is made by Tithe.ly, available on Web, iOS, Android.

Overview

What Elvanto does

Elvanto handles people records, groups and small group management, service planning, volunteer rostering with availability and clash detection, check-in for children's ministry, forms, event registration, and church websites. It ships an integrated giving capability through Tithe.ly and supports multi-site congregations with separate campuses under one account. Its strongest area is rostering. Availability windows, blackout dates, position requirements, automatic clash detection across teams and swap requests are handled better than in most church management systems, which is why it retained a following among churches with large volunteer teams even as competitors gained ground elsewhere. Buyers are mid-sized and multi-site churches, particularly outside the United States where Elvanto's Australian origins gave it earlier traction than US-centric products. The commercial trade-off is ownership. Tithe.ly acquired Elvanto in 2017 and later acquired Breeze; a buyer today is choosing a product where the parent sells two overlapping church management systems, and Elvanto has not been the one receiving most of the new investment. The published pricing bundles management with giving, so compare the total including card processing rather than the licence alone.

What people use it for

  • A multi-site church rostering several hundred volunteers across campuses where double-booking is a weekly problem
  • A church outside the United States wanting a management system that was not designed solely around American church practice
  • A congregation replacing spreadsheets for service planning, song rotation and CCLI reporting
  • A church that wants management and online giving on one invoice rather than integrating two vendors

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Elvanto.

  • Tithe.ly owns both Elvanto and Breeze, two overlapping church management systems, and has directed most recent product investment towards Breeze and giving, so Elvanto buyers are betting on a product that is maintained rather than actively advanced.
  • The advertised monthly price excludes card processing on donations, which for a church taking most giving online is the larger of the two costs and is set by the payment provider, not the licence.
  • The interface is functional but dated relative to Planning Center, and volunteer-facing screens draw complaints from occasional users who only log in to accept a roster.
  • Reporting is adequate for attendance and giving summaries but weak for pastoral care analysis and cohort tracking, so larger churches export to spreadsheets.
  • Support is documentation-and-ticket based with no phone line on the standard plan, which is difficult for a volunteer administrator troubleshooting check-in on a Sunday morning.

What people choose instead of Elvanto

Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Answered, with sources

Questions people ask

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

Is Elvanto still being developed?

It is maintained and sold to new customers, but Tithe.ly also owns Breeze and has prioritised that product and its giving tools. Ask the vendor directly what is on the Elvanto roadmap before a multi-year commitment.

What does it really cost?

$72 a month for management plus giving, or $119 with a branded app, plus payment processing on every donation charged by the provider. Budget the processing rate as the main variable cost.

Is it better than Planning Center for rostering?

For availability handling, clash detection and swap requests it is genuinely competitive. Planning Center is stronger on service and worship team workflow and has a larger integration ecosystem.

Can we migrate our data out?

Yes, exports are available, but rebuilding rosters, forms and check-in configuration in a new system is manual work regardless of the export.
