Overview

What Togal.AI does

Togal.AI reads architectural drawing sets and detects, measures and labels spaces automatically, producing area and count takeoffs without an estimator tracing polygons. It compares drawing revisions to flag what changed between issues, supports natural language search across a set, and exports quantities to Excel or an estimating package. What separates it commercially is its origin. Togal was developed inside Coastal Construction, a large Florida general contractor, and spun out, so its detection is tuned to the commercial building drawing sets that firm bids: floor plans, room schedules, finishes and partition types. That focus is why it performs well on space-based takeoff and less well on the linework-heavy civil, MEP riser and structural detail work an estimator also has to price. Automated takeoff is a recall problem, not a magic one, and every quantity still needs checking before it goes into a bid. Buyers are commercial general contractors and subcontractors with estimating teams large enough that tracing time is the bottleneck. Pricing is published at $299 per user per month on annual billing for one or two licences, with teams of three or more quoted individually. At list, a five-estimator team is roughly $17,940 a year, which is the number to weigh against how many hours of tracing it actually removes.

What people use it for

  • A commercial general contractor bidding repetitive multifamily or hospitality floor plates where room-by-room area takeoff dominates the effort
  • An estimating team that needs to requantify quickly when an architect issues a revised set two days before a bid
  • A finishes subcontractor pricing flooring, paint and ceiling areas across hundreds of rooms
  • A preconstruction group producing early order-of-magnitude budgets from schematic plans before a full estimate is justified

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Togal.AI.

  • Annual billing is mandatory at $299 per user per month, so an estimating team that ramps up and down for bid seasons pays a full year for seats it uses intermittently.
  • Detection is tuned to architectural floor plans and space-based quantities; civil, structural detail and MEP riser takeoff still need a conventional tool, so most firms end up paying for two.
  • Automatically generated quantities still require estimator review before they enter a bid, so the saving is in tracing time rather than in checking time, and firms that skip the check are exposed on a hard-money bid.
  • The company spun out of a single general contractor, and drawing conventions that differ from that firm's typical project types produce weaker detection until the set is cleaned up.
  • It is a takeoff tool, not an estimating system, so pricing, rate build-up and bid assembly still happen elsewhere and the Excel handoff is the seam where errors get introduced.

Questions people ask

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

What does Togal.AI cost?

$299 per user per month billed annually for one or two licences. Three or more users are quoted individually.

Can I pay monthly?

No. The published Growth plan requires annual billing.

Does it replace an estimating system?

No. It produces quantities. Rates, markup and bid assembly still happen in your estimating software or a spreadsheet.

Who owns the drawings and takeoffs I upload?

You do, and quantities export to Excel, but check the contract for how uploaded drawing sets are retained and whether they inform model training.
