Pendo: If you want product analytics and in-app guides from one vendor rather than pairing a guidance tool with a separate analytics stack

In-app onboarding flows and product announcements built without engineering time
As of 31 August 2026, Appcues's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A no-code layer for building tooltips, checklists and walkthroughs inside your own product. Softwr lists it under Customer Success. Appcues is made by Appcues, Inc., available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
Appcues installs a JavaScript snippet or a mobile SDK into your application and lets a product or growth person build in-app experiences over the top: onboarding checklists, feature tooltips, modal announcements, NPS surveys and banners, targeted at user segments defined by properties and behaviour. The builder works by pointing at elements in your live application, so a flow ships without a release and without a ticket in the engineering backlog. What has changed commercially is worth knowing before you evaluate it. Appcues historically published entry pricing and ran a self-serve motion; the current pricing page shows Start, Grow and Enterprise tiers with monthly active user limits and published experience caps, and no dollar amounts at all. Every tier now routes to a call or a trial. The published caps are the useful signal: Start allows 10 published experiences and 12 months of reporting history, Grow allows 25 and 24 months, Enterprise allows 100 and 36 months. Those limits, not the price, are usually what forces an upgrade. Buyers are product-led SaaS companies where activation and feature adoption are the metrics under pressure and engineering time for onboarding work is unavailable. The trade-offs are structural: overlays sit on top of a DOM you keep changing, so flows break when the front end is refactored; the tool measures its own influence, which makes attribution self-serving; and because pricing is by monthly active users, cost grows with product success rather than with the value the tool delivers.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Appcues.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Answered, with sources
Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
It no longer publishes prices. Start, Grow and Enterprise tiers show monthly active user limits and experience caps but no dollar amounts, and each routes to a call or a trial.
A developer installs the snippet or SDK once and maps user properties. After that, building flows genuinely requires no engineering time.
Front-end changes. Because experiences are anchored to elements in your live DOM, refactors and renamed selectors break walkthroughs silently.
A route for teams under 25 people shipping their first in-app experiences. Terms are quoted on application rather than listed.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Appcues, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
