The short version
- Each has a real cost: Philips IntelliSpace PACS philips has consolidated its imaging marketing under Philips Enterprise Imaging and several IntelliSpace PACS regional pages now redirect to a generic medical imaging page, so a buyer signing a long PACS term should demand a written product lifecycle and version support statement before committing.; Therapixel european and American regulatory positions were established under different regimes, and under the EU Medical Device Regulation this class of diagnostic AI faces a higher classification and notified body scrutiny, so European buyers must verify the current MDR certificate and expiry rather than relying on a legacy CE reference.
- They diverge on capability: Philips IntelliSpace PACS covers Diagnostic reading client, Therapixel covers MammoScreen 2D.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
Philips IntelliSpace PACS
- A hospital replacing an end of life PACS that already runs a large Philips CT and MR estate and wants modality and reading integration in one support contractnot Therapixel
- A radiology group consolidating several departmental archives into one enterprise archive with a single radiologist worklistnot Therapixel
- A health system that wants to move diagnostic reading off local workstations into a cloud hosted environment via the AWS listingnot Therapixel
- Sites that need server side advanced visualisation so radiologists can do 3D and vessel work without dedicated 3D workstationsnot Therapixel
Therapixel
- A European breast screening programme running mandatory double reading that wants to evaluate AI as a concurrent or second reader within what national guidance permitsnot Philips IntelliSpace PACS
- An American breast centre that has moved to tomosynthesis and needs reading support on DBT specifically, which Therapixel holds a clearance fornot Philips IntelliSpace PACS
- A screening service wanting a graded suspicion score rather than a binary flag so readers can calibrate their own thresholdnot Philips IntelliSpace PACS
- A radiology group evaluating multiple mammography AI vendors head to head on their own historic case set before committingnot Philips IntelliSpace PACS
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Philips IntelliSpace PACS
- Philips has consolidated its imaging marketing under Philips Enterprise Imaging and several IntelliSpace PACS regional pages now redirect to a generic medical imaging page, so a buyer signing a long PACS term should demand a written product lifecycle and version support statement before committing.
- Advanced visualisation is licensed by concurrent user separately from the base PACS, so a department that sizes concurrency from average use finds radiologists blocked at the morning peak and buys more licences after go live.
- The deepest integration is with Philips modalities, so sites running mixed GE and Siemens scanner fleets get less of the workflow benefit than the demonstration environment implies.
- Third party AI findings arrive through a results interface rather than natively in the hanging protocol, so radiologists context switch to see algorithm output and adoption of purchased AI is lower than expected.
- Data migration from a legacy PACS is a separate, large and often underquoted professional services line, and migrations of a decade of priors routinely run longer than the go live plan allows.
Therapixel
- European and American regulatory positions were established under different regimes, and under the EU Medical Device Regulation this class of diagnostic AI faces a higher classification and notified body scrutiny, so European buyers must verify the current MDR certificate and expiry rather than relying on a legacy CE reference.
- MammoScreen does mammography only, so a hospital wanting AI across head CT, chest and breast needs several vendors and several PACS integrations, or an orchestration layer bought from someone else.
- Therapixel is a small French company competing against Hologic and iCAD, which have incumbency inside the mammography reading workstation, so integration into an American breast centre is more work than it is for the workstation vendor own AI.
- Detection performance is sensitive to the mammography unit vendor and acquisition protocol, so published results do not transfer between estates and each site needs local validation it must fund itself.
- Whether AI can substitute for one of two human readers is a national workforce and liability question, not a product capability, so the labour saving that justifies the purchase in one country is not permitted in another.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Philips IntelliSpace PACS: Is IntelliSpace PACS being discontinued?
It is still sold and supported, but Philips has moved its marketing to Philips Enterprise Imaging and some regional IntelliSpace product pages now redirect. Ask Philips for the written lifecycle statement before signing a multi year term.
Therapixel: Is MammoScreen FDA cleared?
Yes. It holds 510(k) clearance K192854 for two dimensional mammography from July 2020, a November 2021 clearance for digital breast tomosynthesis, and two further clearances in October 2024 for later versions.
Philips IntelliSpace PACS: Can I run it in the cloud?
Yes. Philips lists IntelliSpace Radiology on AWS Marketplace, and Philips also offers a managed hosted deployment. Both are quoted rather than self service.
Therapixel: Is it CE marked?
Yes, but European buyers should ask specifically for the current certificate under the Medical Device Regulation and its expiry date, because this class of diagnostic AI moved to a higher classification under MDR.
Philips IntelliSpace PACS: Does Philips publish pricing?
No. Pricing is by study volume, concurrent diagnostic users and storage, and is usually negotiated alongside modality capital.
Therapixel: What does the one to ten score mean?
It is a graded suspicion score per finding and per study, designed to be integrated alongside a radiologist BI-RADS assessment rather than treated as a positive or negative result.
Philips IntelliSpace PACS: Will it read images from non Philips scanners?
Yes, it is a standard DICOM archive and viewer. The gap is in advanced visualisation and modality workflow integration, which is deeper on Philips equipment.
Therapixel: Does it cover anything besides mammography?
No. It is a mammography product only, including tomosynthesis. Other body regions need a different vendor.
