The short version
- Only UnoPIM has a free tier, so it costs nothing to try first.

There is no vendor-run cloud option, so somebody has to run PHP 8.4, a supported MariaDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL, and keep them patched.
- They diverge on capability: NCR Voyix covers Restaurant point of sale, UnoPIM covers Product Infromation Management System.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 15 September 2026.

Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
NCR Voyix
- Pricing is negotiated and unpublished, so there is no way to sanity check a quote against a list price, and comparison against competitors requires running a full procurement rather than reading two pricing pages.
- Contracts run for years and include hardware, so the commitment is capital as well as subscription, and a refresh cycle you fund is built into the relationship from the start.
- Implementation requires professional services or a partner, so the true first year cost is a multiple of the software line and the go-live date depends on a third party's delivery schedule rather than your own team.
- The system becomes entangled with payments, loyalty, kitchen and back office integrations, so replacing it later is a multi-year programme and the switching cost grows every year you stay.
- NCR has been through a corporate split and subsequent divestitures, so product line ownership, roadmap and support responsibility have moved before and could move again during a long contract term.
UnoPIM
- Self-hosted. There is no vendor-run cloud option, so somebody has to run PHP 8.4, a supported MariaDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL, and keep them patched.
- The stack is specific and recent. Laravel 13 on PHP 8.4.1 or newer rules out shared hosting and older managed PHP environments.
- Younger than the established PIM tools it competes with, first released in 2024, so there is less third-party tooling and a smaller pool of implementers.
- Support is community-driven unless you buy it from Webkul. The MIT licence carries no SLA.
- The AI content generation and AI agent chat depend on third-party model providers you supply and pay for separately.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
NCR Voyix: Is this an e-commerce platform?
No. It runs stores and restaurants. If you need an online storefront you are buying that separately and integrating it.
UnoPIM: Is UnoPIM really free?
Yes. UnoPIM is released under the MIT licence and the source is on GitHub, so there is no licence fee and no seat cost. What you pay for is hosting, and optionally Webkul's commercial support and implementation services.
SourceNCR Voyix: What does it cost?
Nothing is published. Pricing is negotiated per deal and includes hardware and implementation, so budget for a first year total well above the software subscription.
UnoPIM: What does UnoPIM need to run?
Laravel 13 on PHP 8.4.1 or newer, with MariaDB 10.11 LTS or 11.8 LTS, MySQL 8.0.32 or newer, or PostgreSQL 16. Node 22 LTS is recommended for building assets.
SourceNCR Voyix: Who is it actually for?
Multi-site chains. An independent restaurant or single shop is not the buyer and will get better economics from a self-serve POS.
UnoPIM: How many products can UnoPIM handle?
The project states it is built to manage, enrich and scale product data beyond 10 million products, with performance tuning aimed at high-volume catalogues.
SourceNCR Voyix: What should I ask during negotiation?
Get the roadmap and support ownership for your specific product line in writing, given the corporate restructuring, and get the exit terms and data extraction rights defined before signature.
UnoPIM: Who maintains UnoPIM?
Webkul, an e-commerce software company based in Noida, India. The project is open source with an active community and has passed 11,000 GitHub stars.
SourceUnoPIM: Does UnoPIM include digital asset management?
Yes. Images, videos and documents are stored and organised alongside product data with metadata tagging, rather than needing a separate DAM.
SourceUnoPIM: What AI features does it include?
An AI agent chat for managing products conversationally, and AI content generation with support for more than ten model providers. You supply and pay for the provider.
