Transcend
Cybersecurity
Privacy request automation, consent and AI governance across internal systems

The short version
- Each has a real cost: Freshpaint filtering necessarily degrades what advertising platforms receive, so campaign optimisation and lookalike modelling perform worse than an unfiltered pixel would, and the marketing team must accept measurably weaker targeting as the price of compliance.; Transcend value is proportional to integration coverage, so every bespoke internal service needs a connector that your engineers build and then maintain, and the automation promise degrades quietly each time an internal API changes and nobody updates the connector.
- They diverge on capability: Freshpaint covers PHI detection and redaction, Transcend covers Data subject request automation.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 31 August 2026.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
Freshpaint

- A provider running paid search for elective procedures that must send conversion signals without disclosing which condition page a visitor viewednot Transcend
- A compliance officer who needs a field level record of exactly what patient related data leaves the website, for a privacy committeenot Transcend
- A multi-site provider group standardising tracking governance across marketing agencies that would otherwise each add their own tagsnot Transcend
Transcend
- A consumer app processing millions of user records that has to delete a user across a warehouse, a CRM, a support desk and three internal services within a statutory deadlinenot Freshpaint
- A privacy team that currently fulfils requests by emailing system owners and wants machine evidence that deletion actually occurrednot Freshpaint
- A company wiring consent signals through to advertising and analytics platforms so refused consent is honoured downstream rather than only at the bannernot Freshpaint
- An organisation putting policy controls on which customer data models and internal agents may read, ahead of an AI governance auditnot Freshpaint
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Freshpaint
- Filtering necessarily degrades what advertising platforms receive, so campaign optimisation and lookalike modelling perform worse than an unfiltered pixel would, and the marketing team must accept measurably weaker targeting as the price of compliance.
- Pricing is not published on the vendor site despite three named tiers, and third party reports of entry around 599 US dollars a month cover only the lowest tier, with audiences and advertising activation sitting above it.
- It addresses web and marketing tracking rather than the whole protected health information estate, so it solves one exposure while patient data in the CRM, call centre and email tooling remains a separate problem.
- The commercial case rests on a specific regulatory interpretation of online tracking technologies, and litigation and future guidance could narrow or widen it, which makes the size of the problem it solves less stable than a compliance purchase usually is.
- It is built for healthcare and priced accordingly, so an organisation wanting a general customer data platform pays for a regulatory specialism it does not need and gets narrower general purpose functionality than Segment or RudderStack.
Transcend
- Value is proportional to integration coverage, so every bespoke internal service needs a connector that your engineers build and then maintain, and the automation promise degrades quietly each time an internal API changes and nobody updates the connector.
- Pricing is quoted and scales with data volume and integration count, so the cost grows precisely as the company grows, and there is no public anchor to negotiate against at renewal.
- It is deep on fulfilment and consent but thinner than OneTrust on wider governance, third party risk and ethics programme management, so a large enterprise privacy office may end up running two vendors.
- Deployment requires engineering time to install and authorise integrations into production data stores, which means the privacy team cannot buy and implement it alone and the project competes with engineering roadmap.
- Automated deletion against production systems is a destructive operation, so organisations without good staging environments and confident data ownership move slowly and often run the tool in advisory mode for months before letting it execute.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Freshpaint: Why can a hospital not just use Google Analytics?
US Department of Health and Human Services guidance treats IP addresses and health related page URLs as protected health information in this context, and advertising and analytics platforms will not sign a business associate agreement, so the disclosure is unlawful without an intermediary that filters.
Transcend: How is Transcend different from a subject request ticketing tool?
It executes the request against your systems through integrations rather than routing a task to a person. That is the whole product, and it is why the deployment requires engineering involvement.
Freshpaint: Does Freshpaint sign a BAA?
Yes, and it holds SOC 2 Type II. That is the central reason it exists, because the destination platforms will not.
Transcend: What does it cost?
Nothing is published. Reported deals begin around 10,000 US dollars a year and rise with data volume, integration count and modules such as AI governance.
Freshpaint: What does it cost?
Freshpaint does not publish prices. Three tiers, Comply, Perform and Scale, are all sales led, and third party sources report entry around 599 US dollars a month for the lowest.
Transcend: Can it replace OneTrust?
For subject rights, consent and data mapping, often yes. For third party risk, ethics reporting and wider GRC programme management it is narrower.
Freshpaint: Will my ad performance suffer?
Somewhat. Stripping identifiers reduces what platforms can optimise against. The trade is weaker targeting in exchange for measurement that a compliance committee will approve.
Transcend: Does it handle unregistered systems?
It scans for personal data silos rather than relying solely on a declared inventory, which routinely surfaces systems the privacy register did not contain.
