Enverus Energy Analytics: Deeper well-level and land data for North American upstream work, at a lower entry point

Subscription research data and analytics covering oil, gas, power, renewables and mining assets
As of 30 August 2026, Wood Mackenzie Lens's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Lens is a delivery platform for Wood Mackenzie research, not a software product in its own right. Softwr lists it under Energy. Wood Mackenzie Lens is made by Wood Mackenzie, available on Web, API.
Overview
Wood Mackenzie Lens is a browser-based analytics platform that carries the research output of Wood Mackenzie. Modules are sold by sector: Upstream oil and gas, Subsurface, Gas and LNG, Power and Renewables with separate Americas, EMEA and Asia-Pacific variants, Metals and Mining, Hydrogen, Carbon Management, Emissions and Energy Transition Scenarios. Lens Direct delivers the same content through an API so customers can pull it into their own models and data warehouses. The underlying content covers assets, companies and markets, with economics modelled down to individual fields, mines and power projects. The fact a buyer should be clear about before signing is what the money is for. The interface is competent but unremarkable; the asset is the research. Wood Mackenzie analysts build the cost curves, reserve estimates and project economics, and no competitor can be swapped in without changing the numbers your business plans against. That is the source of the pricing power. It is also the source of the main risk, because the figures are estimates modelled by a third party, not operator-reported data, and they can differ materially from what the asset owner reports. The buyers are corporate strategy and business development teams at energy and mining companies, investors and lenders underwriting projects, commodity traders and government agencies. Ownership has moved twice in the last decade: Verisk acquired Wood Mackenzie in 2015 and sold it to the private equity firm Veritas Capital in 2023, so a multi-year subscription is now signed with a private equity holding rather than a listed data group. Licensing is per named seat per dataset, so covering an analyst team multiplies rather than adds, and login sharing is a contract breach that vendors in this segment do audit.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Wood Mackenzie Lens.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Wood Mackenzie Lens, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
