Overview
InsightCM collects and correlates several kinds of machine measurement in one platform: vibration, electrical signature analysis, partial discharge, electromagnetic interference, thermography and process data. Its origin as a National Instruments product shows in the architecture, which is built around configurable data acquisition hardware and continuous waveform capture rather than around scalar readings, so it suits machines where diagnosis needs the raw signal rather than an overall level. It deploys on-premise or in the cloud and works with NI-based acquisition systems as well as Cutsforth monitoring hardware. The ownership history is the fact a buyer needs. National Instruments developed InsightCM, Emerson acquired National Instruments in October 2023 and folded it into its test and measurement business, and InsightCM is now owned and advanced by Cutsforth, a Washington state company known for generator brush holder systems and EMI diagnostics on power plant machines. Anyone who researched this software as an NI product, or who assumes Emerson support stands behind it, is working from the wrong vendor, the wrong support contract and the wrong roadmap. Cutsforth is a specialist in generation assets, which sharpens the product for power stations and narrows it elsewhere. Buyers are electricity generators, nuclear and fossil plant operators, and industrial sites with large rotating machines where a generator or turbine failure is a plant-level event. The trade-off is that this is a small vendor with an instrumentation-heavy product. It needs acquisition hardware installed on the machine, someone competent to configure channels and thresholds, and enough machine value to justify continuous multi-physics monitoring. It is not a route to instrumenting a hundred general-purpose pumps.
