Depop: If you want stronger social discovery features and are comfortable with a seller-side commission instead

Lithuania-founded secondhand fashion marketplace that charges the buyer, not the seller, a platform fee
As of 1 September 2026, Vinted is free to use. A European resale marketplace, strongest in the UK, France, Germany and its home market Lithuania, built on a fee model that inverts the usual approach: selling is free, and instead the buyer pays a per-purchase buyer protection fee on top of the item price and shipping. Softwr lists it under E-Commerce. Vinted is made by Vinted UAB, available on iOS, Android, Web.
Overview
Vinted is a peer-to-peer marketplace for secondhand clothing, shoes and accessories, with strongest usage across Europe. Sellers list items, set a price, and receive the full listed price with no commission deducted, which distinguishes it from Depop, Poshmark and Mercari, all of which take a cut from the seller payout. The cost instead falls on the buyer through the Vinted Buyer Protection fee, a variable charge added at checkout calculated from the item price, that funds refund and dispute cover if an item does not arrive or does not match its description, plus payment processing. Because the seller keeps 100 percent of the listed price, sellers can price items lower than they would need to on a commission-charging platform to net the same amount, but buyers should treat the displayed item price as understating the actual checkout total, since the buyer protection fee and shipping are both added afterward and can meaningfully increase the final cost, particularly on lower-priced items where the fee is proportionally larger. Buyers are casual sellers who want to avoid a cut taken from their sale, and shoppers comparing prices across marketplaces, and the trade-off is that Vinted headline item prices look cheaper than commission-based competitors until the buyer protection fee is added, making true cross-platform price comparison require checking the full checkout total rather than the listing price alone.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Vinted.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.
