Twilio: Its verification product covers passcode delivery for teams that do not need separate fraud scoring

Phone number verification and fraud scoring rather than general purpose messaging
As of 31 August 2026, Telesign's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Identity and fraud APIs built on phone number intelligence, used to score signups before they become accounts. Softwr lists it under Telecommunications. Telesign is made by Telesign (Proximus Global), available on Web, API.
Overview
Telesign provides phone number verification through SMS and voice one-time passcodes, phone number intelligence covering line type, carrier, porting and SIM swap history, and risk scoring that assesses whether a number and its subscriber history look legitimate. It was founded in 2005 and is headquartered in Los Angeles. It is not competing to be the cheapest way to send a message, and evaluating it on a per-message rate misreads the product. What a customer buys is a judgement about a phone number: how long it has existed, whether it has recently been ported or swapped to a new SIM, whether it sits in a range associated with disposable numbers and fraud. The return is measured against fraud losses and promotion abuse rather than against a rate card, and its passcode routing is optimised for delivery completion rather than lowest cost. Its pricing disclosure is unusual and asymmetric, and worth knowing before you shortlist it: Telesign publishes SMS prices for 233 countries without a login, and lists every single voice destination as quote-only, so there is no published per-minute price anywhere. Ownership explains its data position. Proximus, the Belgian telecommunications operator, acquired Telesign in 2017 through its then majority-owned subsidiary BICS, and has held it outright since February 2021. It now sits in Proximus Global alongside BICS and Route Mobile, which matters because the carrier assets are the siblings' rather than Telesign's own; Telesign is the identity software layer. A merger with the special purpose acquisition company North Atlantic Acquisition Corporation, announced in December 2021 at around 1.3 billion dollars, was terminated on 1 July 2022, and it never listed.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Telesign.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

No. A merger with the North Atlantic Acquisition Corporation special purpose vehicle was announced in December 2021 at around 1.3 billion dollars and terminated on 1 July 2022, so it remained within Proximus.
No, and that is not its purpose. It routes for verification completion and adds a risk judgement about the number. If you only need cheap message delivery, compare rate card vendors instead.
