- They diverge on capability: Infobip covers Direct operator connections, Telesign covers Phone number verification.

Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Infobip
- The published calculator shows only the average price across a country's networks, and per-network rates sit behind the portal, so the public figure is not what you will be billed.
- Its regional strength is irrelevant to a business sending only to the United States or Western Europe, where cheaper vendors reach the same handsets.
- The engagement suite pushes buyers toward a broader platform commitment than a team that wanted a messaging API had intended to make.
- Enterprise onboarding and contracting take longer than a self-serve competitor, which suits a product still validating a channel poorly.
- US A2P traffic still carries 10DLC registration and per-segment carrier surcharges, so the negotiated rate is not the delivered cost in that market.
Telesign
- Risk scoring is probabilistic, so tuning thresholds trades fraud caught against genuine users blocked, and somebody has to own that trade-off continuously.
- No voice pricing is published at all: every one of the 233 destinations in its public rate card lists voice as quote only, so voice cost cannot be modelled in advance.
- It is a verification and risk product, so a business that also needs general purpose messaging will run a second vendor for that traffic.
- Number intelligence quality varies by country because it depends on operator data availability, and coverage in some markets is thinner than the global claim implies.
- The underlying carrier assets belong to its sibling companies rather than to Telesign, so network questions route back to a parent whose principal business is not developer APIs.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Infobip: When is Infobip clearly the right choice?
When a material share of your users are in markets that other vendors reach through intermediaries, such as parts of Africa, the Middle East, South Asia and Latin America. Direct operator connections there improve both delivery rates and the reliability of delivery reporting.
Telesign: Who owns Telesign?
Proximus, the Belgian telecommunications operator. It acquired Telesign in 2017 through its subsidiary BICS and has owned it outright since February 2021. Telesign now sits in Proximus Global alongside BICS and Route Mobile.
Infobip: Does Infobip publish per-country prices?
Only partly. Its calculator shows the average price across all networks in a country, and it states that per-network pricing is available in the portal. Vendors such as Sinch and Plivo publish more granular rate cards.
Telesign: Did Telesign go public?
No. A merger with the North Atlantic Acquisition Corporation special purpose vehicle was announced in December 2021 at around 1.3 billion dollars and terminated on 1 July 2022, so it remained within Proximus.
Infobip: Does Infobip own network infrastructure?
Yes, more than most of its competitors. It reports over 800 direct operator connections and owns Peerless Network, a facilities-based US carrier it acquired in 2022.
Telesign: Is Telesign a cheaper way to send one-time passcodes?
No, and that is not its purpose. It routes for verification completion and adds a risk judgement about the number. If you only need cheap message delivery, compare rate card vendors instead.
