Payhawk: If you want an all-in-one card, expense and payables platform rather than a layer on an existing card

Virtual card issuing and spend controls layered onto existing business credit cards
As of 1 September 2026, Extend is free to use. A virtual card platform that issues cards against a company's existing American Express, Visa or Mastercard business credit line rather than opening a new card programme, with a published three-tier price list including a genuinely free starter plan. Softwr lists it under Payroll. Extend is available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
Extend issues virtual credit cards with per-card limits, expense categories and approval workflows, but rather than replacing a company's business credit card it attaches to the cards already issued by American Express, Visa or Mastercard-issuing banks, extending their control and reporting into vendor-specific and one-time-use virtual numbers. The fact worth recording precisely is pricing: Extend runs a free Starter plan capped at five users, ten guests and 100 virtual cards a month; a Pro plan at 11.99 dollars per user per month billed annually (12 dollars monthly) with a ten-user minimum and up to 500 cards a month, adding custom approval workflows and QuickBooks Online integration; and a custom-quoted Enterprise plan with unlimited users, API access and NetSuite or Dynamics 365 integration. That is real, comparable per-seat pricing in a category most vendors quote privately. Buyers are businesses that already have a card programme with a bank or Amex and want tighter, vendor-level spend control without switching card issuer, plus companies wanting to start free before committing budget. The trade-off is the flip side of its main strength: because it depends on an underlying card relationship rather than issuing its own, credit terms, rewards and dispute handling still run through that original card issuer, and Extend is a control layer on top rather than a replacement for card issuer negotiation.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Extend.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for Extend, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
