What Echo360 does
Echo360 sells what it calls the Echosystem to universities, colleges and some corporate training buyers. EchoVideo is the core: scheduled lecture capture from room hardware or software, automatic transcription and search, streaming to students, engagement analytics and integration with the institutional LMS. EchoEngage covers live polling and audience response, including the PointSolutions clickers and software that came with the Turning Technologies merger. EchoExam authors and delivers high-stakes assessments. EchoInk handles interactive content. GoReact, acquired in 2025, adds video-based skill assessment used heavily in teacher training, nursing and communication courses. The distinguishing capability is the combination of scheduled capture at room level and analytics that tie viewing behaviour to individual students in the LMS gradebook. Universities buy that for two reasons that have nothing to do with video quality: accessibility compliance, because captioned recordings satisfy legal obligations cheaply, and retention analytics, because departments want to see which students stopped watching. Neither is a feature a marketing page leads with, and both are what actually gets the purchase order signed. Buyers are institutions, not departments, and the purchase is an annual or multi-year enterprise contract with no published pricing at any tier. The trade-off worth stating plainly is ownership. Echo360 is backed by Centre Lane Partners, merged with Turning Technologies, and has been acquiring adjacent products; that produces a wide catalogue quickly but also a portfolio where individual products have different codebases, support teams and roadmap attention. Ask which components share a login and which do not before assuming the bundle is one system.

- No pricing is published for any component, so institutions cannot benchmark before entering a procurement, and the eventual figure depends on negotiated enrolment bands that vary widely between comparable universities.
- The catalogue is assembled from mergers and acquisitions including Turning Technologies and GoReact, so the bundle is not one product: components differ in codebase, support and roadmap attention, and integration between them is uneven.
- Room capture hardware and installation are priced separately from the software licence and often exceed it in year one, which is regularly missed in budget submissions that only cover the subscription.
- Private equity ownership through Centre Lane Partners means roadmap and pricing decisions answer to an investment thesis, and universities on multi-year contracts have limited leverage if the strategy changes mid-term.
- Automatic transcription accuracy on technical lecture content, accented speakers and poor room audio falls well short of what an accessibility obligation strictly requires, so institutions relying on it for compliance usually still pay for human correction on a subset of courses.

Does Echo360 publish pricing?
No. Every component is quoted, generally as an institution-wide annual licence banded by enrolment, with hardware and installation separate.
Is automatic captioning good enough for accessibility compliance?
Not on its own for high-stakes use. Automatic transcription handles search and general access well, but technical vocabulary and poor room audio degrade it, and most institutions budget for human correction where a formal accommodation exists.
What did the Turning Technologies merger bring?
The polling and clicker business, now sold as EchoEngage and PointSolutions, which is why polling appears alongside lecture capture on one contract.
Is GoReact sold separately?
