As of 15 September 2026, Activity Messenger starts at $99/month. Activity Messenger is launched in 2019, available on Web.

Overview

What Activity Messenger does

Activity Messenger is registration software for the sports and leisure sector: clubs, camps, dance studios, swim schools, gymnastics clubs, tennis clubs, federations and parks and recreation departments. It was founded in Montreal in 2019 by people who had run this software from the other side, including Martin Drapeau, formerly CTO of Amilia, where he spent six years helping grow the company from 15 people to 110. Their stated reason for building it was blunt: "We used (and struggled with) these software. We heard from frustrated peers. And finally, we struck out to build something better." What separates it from a generic booking tool is how much of the surrounding administration it absorbs. Registrations run through customisable forms with online payment attached. Digital waivers are signed and stored rather than printed. Memberships, attendance tracking, online ticketing and event management sit alongside the registrations themselves. Staff onboarding and timesheet collection are handled in the same place, which matters for an organisation whose instructors turn over every season. Email and SMS marketing with automations covers the communication half of the name, with Canva integration for the design work and Zoom for anything delivered online. Pricing starts at 99 dollars a month for Light and runs to 229 for Pro, tiered mainly on email subscriber count, number of automated tasks and users, with an Enterprise tier above that. Payment processing is charged separately at 2.9 percent plus 30 cents on cards with a 1 percent service fee, and there is a 10 dollar pause plan for seasonal organisations of up to six months.

What people use it for

  • Running seasonal camp and class registrations
  • Collecting signed liability waivers digitally
  • Managing memberships and recurring programmes
  • Onboarding and timesheeting seasonal instructors
  • Email and SMS campaigns to a registrant list

The honest half

Where it falls short

Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Activity Messenger.

  • Entry pricing is 99 dollars a month, and online registration itself only appears on the 149 dollar Premium tier, so the cheapest plan is a communications tool rather than a registration one.
  • Payment processing costs 2.9 percent plus 30 cents on cards with a 1 percent service fee on all methods, which is charged on top of the subscription.
  • Tiers are gated on email subscriber counts, so an organisation with a large mailing list and few registrations pays for the list.
  • Staff scheduling is listed as coming soon on the Pro tier rather than available.
  • The customer base and case studies are concentrated in North America, so a European organisation should check tax and payment handling before committing.
