ThetaRay: Does it replace a rules engine entirely?
Rarely on day one. Most institutions run it alongside existing rules during a parallel period, and some keep specific regulator-mandated rules permanently.
VMware Carbon Black: Who owns Carbon Black now?
Broadcom. It acquired VMware in November 2023, and Carbon Black now sits in Broadcom's enterprise security business alongside Symantec. VMware branding is being phased out.
ThetaRay: Where is the data processed?
SaaS runs on Microsoft Azure with regional deployment options, which is the mechanism for meeting data residency conditions in regulated markets.
VMware Carbon Black: Why do the docs use names I do not recognise?
The product has been renamed repeatedly. CB Defense is now Endpoint Standard, CB ThreatHunter is Enterprise EDR and CB LiveOps is Audit and Remediation. Older community answers and runbooks still use the previous names.
ThetaRay: Is sanctions screening included?
Screening is available on the same platform but licensed as part of the commercial package rather than bundled by default. Confirm it is in your quote.
