The short version
- Each has a real cost: Kuebix the free tier that made the product well known was the reason most buyers looked at it, and after the Trimble acquisition the entry level commercial terms are no longer what the widely circulated reviews describe, so any research older than the acquisition is misleading.; Rose Rocket settlement and driver pay handling is lighter than the established asset carrier systems, so a fleet with layered owner operator pay schemes ends up maintaining calculations in spreadsheets alongside the system.
- They diverge on capability: Kuebix covers Rate shopping, Rose Rocket covers Branded shipper portal.

Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Kuebix
- The free tier that made the product well known was the reason most buyers looked at it, and after the Trimble acquisition the entry level commercial terms are no longer what the widely circulated reviews describe, so any research older than the acquisition is misleading.
- Ownership by Trimble means the roadmap is set against a portfolio strategy centred on carrier and fleet technology, and shipper side investment competes internally with products that sell to a different customer.
- It is a rating and booking tool rather than a full transportation management system, so shippers with multi leg, international or complex allocation requirements outgrow it quickly.
- Rate accuracy depends on the shipper loading and maintaining its own carrier contracts, and stale rate tables produce confident quotes that the carrier invoice then contradicts.
- Support and account management now run through a large diversified vendor, and small shippers on entry level arrangements report less direct access than they had with the original company.
Rose Rocket
- Settlement and driver pay handling is lighter than the established asset carrier systems, so a fleet with layered owner operator pay schemes ends up maintaining calculations in spreadsheets alongside the system.
- It is not an accounting package, so the general ledger stays in QuickBooks, Xero or similar and month end still involves a reconciliation between two systems.
- The strength is North American LTL and final mile, and truckload only carriers get less out of the portal and manifesting features they are paying for.
- Pricing is not published and is structured per user, so a carrier with many part time dispatchers, terminal clerks and after hours staff pays for seats that are used a few hours a week.
- The customer portal only helps if your shippers use it, and a carrier serving small shippers that still email pickup requests will not see the differentiation it bought.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Kuebix: Is Kuebix still free?
Do not assume so. The free community tier was central to the original company and the terms changed after Trimble acquired the business in 2020. Confirm current availability with Trimble.
Rose Rocket: Is it built for truckload or LTL?
LTL, courier and final mile are where the planning and portal features earn their cost. Truckload works but uses less of the product.
Kuebix: Who owns Kuebix?
Trimble Inc., which acquired it in 2020.
Rose Rocket: Does it handle driver settlements?
Basic pay handling is present. Complex owner operator schemes usually need work outside the system.
Kuebix: Is it a full TMS?
It is strongest at LTL rate shopping, booking and tracking. Complex multimodal planning is not its territory.
Rose Rocket: Is there a public API?
Yes, and it is one of the reasons carriers with development capacity choose it.
Kuebix: Does it work with my own carrier contracts?
Yes, that is the core use case, but you are responsible for keeping the rate tables current.
Rose Rocket: Where is the company based?
Toronto, Canada, with customers across Canada and the United States.
