Cloud native credit card processing and core banking from Bhavin Turakhia's Zeta
As of 1 September 2026, Zeta's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. A modern issuing and core banking stack whose United States traction is in credit cards, where the incumbent processors are decades old. Softwr lists it under Technology. Zeta is made by Zeta Services, available on Web, API, Cloud, iOS.
Overview
Zeta builds Tachyon, a cloud native platform for credit card issuing, core banking, deposits and payments, sold to banks and large fintechs. Founded by Bhavin Turakhia, it raised a $250 million round led by Sofina in 2021 at a $1.45 billion valuation and has since focused heavily on the United States credit card market, where its Sparrow processing stack targets issuers stuck on legacy card platforms. The reason credit cards specifically is commercial. United States card processing is dominated by systems built decades ago, where launching a new card product or changing rewards logic is a vendor project measured in quarters. Zeta's pitch is configuration in days and real time processing, which matters most to issuers competing on product design. That is a narrower and more winnable beachhead than displacing deposit cores, and it is where the reference deals are. Buyers are banks and large issuers, not startups. The trade offs are substantial: contracts are enterprise scale and quoted, implementation for a card portfolio migration runs twelve to twenty four months at least, and Zeta is competing against processors with thirty year operational track records in an industry where a processing outage is a front page event. Reference customers in the United States are fewer than the incumbents', and diligence should focus on live production volume rather than announced partnerships.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Zeta.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.
