MLflow: The most widely used open-source experiment tracker, narrower in scope and simpler to run

Open-source MLOps platform for experiment tracking and orchestration
As of 29 August 2026, ClearML is free to use. End-to-end MLOps: experiment tracking, data versioning, pipelines and remote execution in one open-source platform. Softwr lists it under Machine Learning. ClearML is available on Linux, macOS, Windows, Self-hosted.
Overview
ClearML is an open-source MLOps platform covering experiment tracking, data versioning, pipeline orchestration and remote execution. Its breadth is the differentiator: where many teams assemble tracking from one tool, orchestration from another and serving from a third, ClearML aims to cover the chain. Instrumentation is deliberately light — adding a couple of lines to an existing training script captures parameters, metrics, artefacts and the environment. From there the same experiment can be cloned and re-run on remote hardware without repackaging it.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about ClearML.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

The open-source version is free and self-hostable. Hosted and enterprise tiers are paid.
Very little — adding a couple of lines to an existing training script captures parameters, metrics and environment automatically.
It covers MLflow’s tracking and adds orchestration, remote execution and data versioning. Whether that breadth is an advantage or extra weight depends on whether you need the rest.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for ClearML, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
