Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Grammarly
- Occasional false positives and grammatically incorrect suggestions that can introduce errors
- Privacy concerns about sending text to Grammarly's servers for analysis
- AI capabilities sometimes produce hallucinations and fabricated citations that appear grammatically correct
Lavender
- The free tier allows five emails a month, which is a demonstration rather than a usable plan, so anyone doing real outbound is on a paid seat within the first day.
- The scoring model is calibrated on cold business-to-business sales email; applied to customer success, recruiting or long-form relationship email it penalises length and formality that those contexts legitimately require.
- It coaches the message and ignores the list, so representatives writing beautifully scored emails to badly chosen prospects still get no replies and conclude the tool does not work.
- Team pricing at 99 US dollars per seat a month is well above what most sales tooling budgets allocate for a writing assistant, and the improvement is hard to attribute cleanly against everything else changing in a quarter.
- The newer Ora agent is priced around 500 US dollars per agent per month, a completely different commercial bracket from the coach, and conflating the two makes budget conversations go wrong.

SourceLavender: Does Lavender send emails?
The coach does not. It scores and rewrites inside your existing inbox or sequence tool. The separate Ora product does draft and send autonomously.
Grammarly: What platforms does Grammarly work with?
Grammarly works across 1 million+ apps including Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Slack, Gmail, and web browsers. It also integrates with productivity tools like Asana, Jira, Monday.com, Confluence, and HubSpot.
SourceLavender: Is there a genuinely free version?
Yes, five analysed and five personalised emails per month, forever.
Grammarly: Can I use Grammarly offline?
Grammarly requires an internet connection to function, though the browser extension works with some offline text areas. For offline use, the desktop app and browser extensions sync when reconnected.
SourceLavender: Does it work in Outlook?
Yes, alongside Gmail and the major sequence platforms.
Grammarly: What is included in the Enterprise plan?
The Enterprise plan includes unlimited team members, dedicated support, custom roles and permissions, data loss prevention, bring-your-own-key encryption, and unlimited AI prompts. Pricing is custom and available by contacting sales.

It reliably improves the mechanics that correlate with replies: length, reading level and personalisation. It cannot fix a bad target list.
