The short version

  • Each has a real cost: AMFG no pricing is published in any form, and the product is sold by module and site, so total cost is invisible until you are several sales calls in.; MOVUS mOVUS is a small independent company, so standardising a large estate on its sensors carries supplier continuity risk that a purchase from a major instrumentation vendor does not.
  • They diverge on capability: AMFG covers Geometric auto-quoting, MOVUS covers FitMachine sensor.
  • Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

AMFG

  • A machine shop losing work because quoting takes three days and competitors answer in three hoursnot MOVUS
  • An additive bureau that needs one system for order intake, build scheduling and traceability across several machinesnot MOVUS

MOVUS

  • A mining operation instrumenting pumps and fans in a classified hazardous zone where cabled monitoring would require an outage and an electrical projectnot AMFG
  • A water utility with a small maintenance team that wants assessed alerts rather than a dashboard nobody has time to interpretnot AMFG
  • A food processing site adding condition monitoring to existing assets without production downtime, using magnetic mountingnot AMFG
  • An Australian operator that wants local support and local calibration data rather than a Northern Hemisphere vendor with a resellernot AMFG

Where each one falls short

Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.

AMFG

  • No pricing is published in any form, and the product is sold by module and site, so total cost is invisible until you are several sales calls in.
  • Automated quoting only becomes accurate once your cost model, machine rates and material data are properly loaded, so the value arrives months after go-live and early quotes need human checking.
  • The product started in additive manufacturing and has pivoted its marketing towards CNC machine shops, which means some CNC-specific depth is newer than the additive lineage and worth testing against your actual process mix.
  • It overlaps heavily with ERP and MES scope, so shops with an existing ERP face an ownership decision over scheduling and customer records that is a political problem, not a technical one.
  • It is a comparatively small vendor against established shop-floor systems, so integration work into an incumbent ERP will fall largely on you or a partner rather than on a pre-built certified connector.

MOVUS

  • MOVUS is a small independent company, so standardising a large estate on its sensors carries supplier continuity risk that a purchase from a major instrumentation vendor does not.
  • Support and service outside Australia and New Zealand depend on partners, which means response times, commercial terms and technical depth vary by country in ways the vendor cannot fully control.
  • Per-asset subscription plus per-asset hardware means the cost of full coverage rises linearly, so most sites end up monitoring a subset and leaving the long tail of small motors unmonitored.
  • The single condition score is designed for planners rather than analysts, which suits teams without vibration expertise but frustrates reliability engineers who want the underlying spectra to diagnose a specific defect.
  • Nothing is published on sensor cost, gateway requirements, subscription rate or contract term, so a realistic total cost for a site rollout cannot be estimated without a sales conversation.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages

AMFG: Does AMFG replace my ERP?

No. It covers quoting through shop-floor execution and quality. Finance, purchasing and inventory usually stay in the ERP, and you must decide which system owns scheduling.

MOVUS: Is there a hazardous area version?

Yes. The FitMachine 3XT EX is certified for hazardous zones, with availability from February 2026.

AMFG: Is it only for 3D printing?

No, though that is where it started. It now targets CNC machine shops as well and markets quoting for machining, sheet metal and additive.

MOVUS: Do I get raw vibration data?

The product is built around an assessed condition score and reviewed alerts. Reliability engineers wanting full spectra should confirm what data access their contract includes.

AMFG: How accurate is automated quoting out of the box?

Not accurate until your machine rates, materials and cost model are configured. Treat the first months of quotes as assisted rather than automatic.

MOVUS: Does installation need an electrician?

No for the sensor, which mounts magnetically and runs on battery. Gateways typically need power and network, which is where the site work sits.

AMFG: Is pricing published?

No. It is quoted by number of users, sites and selected modules.

MOVUS: Is MOVUS available outside Australia?

Yes, largely through partners including industrial services and insurance-linked risk programmes, with support quality varying by region.
