What ScreenFlow does

ScreenFlow from Telestream records the screen, camera, microphone, system audio and connected iOS devices, then edits the result on a multitrack timeline with callouts, animated zoom and pan, chroma key, annotations and caption authoring. It exports to video files and directly to common hosting destinations. The reason it still has a following is the licence model. Screen recording and tutorial production moved almost entirely to subscription, and ScreenFlow remained a purchase. For a training department or a solo course producer, the difference over five years is substantial and predictable. The qualification is that Telestream sells major versions as paid upgrades, so a buyer who wants continued compatibility with new macOS releases is effectively buying again every eighteen months to two years. Buyers are course creators, software trainers and support teams on Mac hardware. The hard gate is the platform. There is no Windows build, there never has been, and project files do not open anywhere else, so any team with a mixed fleet cannot standardise on it.
