Apple's digital audio workstation, sold outright on Mac and by subscription on iPad
As of 29 August 2026, Logic Pro has a free plan and paid plans start at $12.99/month. A professional digital audio workstation from Apple, available as a one-time purchase on Mac and only through a subscription on iPad. Softwr lists it under Music. Logic Pro is made by Apple Inc., available on macOS, iOS.
Overview
Logic Pro is Apple's professional digital audio workstation. It occupies an unusual position among paid DAWs because its pricing differs by device: on Mac it can still be bought outright, which most of its competitors have moved away from, while on iPad it is available only through a subscription. It runs solely on Apple hardware, and the current release requires Apple silicon on the Mac, so it is not an option for anyone working on Windows or on an Intel Mac.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Logic Pro.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.
