Lightspeed Systems sells eight modules to school districts, all built on an agent that sits on the managed device rather than on the network. Filter handles CIPA-compliant content control including granular YouTube and social media policy; Alert monitors student activity for self-harm, violence and bullying with an optional 24/7 human review service; Classroom gives teachers a live view of student screens; Insight reports which apps students and staff actually use, which is used to cancel unused licences; Signal monitors device and connectivity health; MDM covers Apple devices; StopIt provides anonymous community reporting; and Hall Monitor adds digital passes. Insight is the module that changes the commercial argument. - The agent model means coverage stops at the managed device, and students moving to a personal phone on mobile data are outside filtering and monitoring entirely, which undercuts the compliance claim in the exact scenario administrators worry about.
- Teacher screen monitoring is frequently deployed without training, and lessons stall while staff learn the interface, so the first term of a Classroom rollout often produces complaints rather than the intended benefit.
