What BDRShield does
BDRShield backs up VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, KVM and oVirt virtual machines agentlessly, plus physical Windows and Linux servers, endpoints, NAS shares, Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, and MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Exchange and SharePoint. It can be managed from a hosted cloud console or an on-premises console, and backup data can go to local storage, the vendor cloud or the customer own cloud bucket. Buyers should know two naming facts. BDRSuite is now BDRShield, and bdrsuite.com redirects to bdrshield.com. Vembu Technologies remains the company behind it. The second fact matters more commercially: the product built its reputation on aggressively published per-workload pricing, and the current pricing page has replaced those numbers with a custom quote form. The marketing still promises a few dollars per workload, but the figure is no longer public, which removes the transparency that was one of its main advantages over Veeam. Buyers are small and medium businesses and managed service providers who need broad workload coverage at a fraction of the incumbent cost, particularly those running Proxmox where the major vendors have been slow. The trade-off is depth: recovery orchestration, instant recovery performance, integration ecosystem and support responsiveness all trail the expensive alternatives, and that gap shows during a real recovery rather than during an evaluation.
