Aider is an open-source command-line tool for AI-assisted software development. It connects to large language models such as Claude, GPT, DeepSeek, and local models to edit files across a codebase, automatically committing changes to git with descriptive messages. Aider builds a map of the repository to give the model context on larger projects, supports over 100 programming languages, and can incorporate images, web pages, and voice input into a coding session. It runs entirely in the terminal and integrates with existing editors via file watching.
