The short version

  • Only UnoPIM has a free tier, so it costs nothing to try first.
  • Each has a real cost: Strapi cloud pricing is per project, not per account, so a second project doubles the bill; UnoPIM self-hosted. There is no vendor-run cloud option, so somebody has to run PHP 8.4, a supported MariaDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL, and keep them patched.
  • They diverge on capability: Strapi covers REST API, UnoPIM covers Product Infromation Management System.
  • Prices and features above were last checked on 15 September 2026.

Strapi

  • Cloud pricing is per project, not per account, so a second project doubles the bill
  • Starter at $35 a month allows 100,000 API requests, and overage is $1.50 per 25,000
  • Extra bandwidth is $30 per 100 GB and extra asset storage $0.60 per GB
  • Backups start at the Pro plan, weekly, and only become daily at Business
  • An uptime SLA is Business only, at $450 a month per project
  • Additional environments cost $60 a month on Pro and $300 a month on Business

UnoPIM

  • Self-hosted. There is no vendor-run cloud option, so somebody has to run PHP 8.4, a supported MariaDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL, and keep them patched.
  • The stack is specific and recent. Laravel 13 on PHP 8.4.1 or newer rules out shared hosting and older managed PHP environments.
  • Younger than the established PIM tools it competes with, first released in 2024, so there is less third-party tooling and a smaller pool of implementers.
  • Support is community-driven unless you buy it from Webkul. The MIT licence carries no SLA.
  • The AI content generation and AI agent chat depend on third-party model providers you supply and pay for separately.
