Pix4D vs Reconstruct

Reconstruct
Construction
Reality capture and progress tracking that aligns site imagery to the model and the schedule

The short version
- Only Pix4D has a free tier, so it costs nothing to try first.
- Each has a real cost: Pix4D split into separate products by job, so PIX4Dreact at $55 a month, PIX4Dfields at $111, PIX4Dmatic at $125 and PIX4Dmapper at $333 are different purchases rather than tiers; Reconstruct pricing is quoted with nothing published, so a buyer cannot sanity-check a proposal against a list rate and has no way to know whether the price scales with projects, square footage or users until deep in the sales process.
- They diverge on capability: Pix4D covers Photogrammetry, Reconstruct covers Device-agnostic capture.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
Pix4D
- Photogrammetry from drone imagery into orthomosaics and point cloudsnot Reconstruct
- Survey-grade 2D maps and 3D models with PIX4Dmappernot Reconstruct
- Rapid 2D mapping for emergency response with PIX4Dreactnot Reconstruct
- Multispectral crop analysis with PIX4Dfieldsnot Reconstruct
- Large-scale processing with LiDAR integration through PIX4Dmaticnot Reconstruct
Reconstruct
- A general contractor whose monthly progress claim is regularly challenged by the owner, needing dated visual evidence tied to schedule activities rather than a folder of photosnot Pix4D
- An owner running projects in several countries who wants to cut executive site visits without accepting the contractor’s self-reported percentage completenot Pix4D
- A healthcare or data centre fit-out where above-ceiling services must be recorded before they are closed up, so later maintenance does not require demolitionnot Pix4D
- A delay or defect dispute where the decisive question is what was physically in place on a specific date and the only other evidence is contested emailnot Pix4D
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Pix4D
- Split into separate products by job, so PIX4Dreact at $55 a month, PIX4Dfields at $111, PIX4Dmatic at $125 and PIX4Dmapper at $333 are different purchases rather than tiers
- Subscription only, with monthly, yearly or three year cycles and no perpetual licence
- No refunds, and cancellation only takes effect at renewal
- Cloud processing is an add-on to the desktop subscriptions
- Hardware scanning kit prices are quoted on request
Reconstruct
- Pricing is quoted with nothing published, so a buyer cannot sanity-check a proposal against a list rate and has no way to know whether the price scales with projects, square footage or users until deep in the sales process.
- The whole value depends on disciplined recurring capture, and site teams treat walking the building with a camera as a low-priority chore, so datasets go stale exactly when a dispute makes them valuable.
- Photogrammetry from handheld footage is less accurate than laser scanning, so it is fine for progress and coordination but should not be relied on for tight as-built tolerances or prefabrication dimensions.
- Schedule alignment requires a well-structured schedule with activities that map to physical locations; on projects where the programme is a coarse rolled-up bar chart the progress calculation is close to meaningless.
- It is another platform alongside Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud rather than a replacement, so buyers add a subscription and a workflow rather than consolidating one, and the business case has to survive that.

Questions people ask
- Is Pix4D or Reconstruct better?
- Neither clearly leads. Pix4D starts at Free and Reconstruct at On request, and user ratings are close enough to be indistinguishable. Choose on capability and platform support.
- Which is cheaper, Pix4D or Reconstruct?
- Pix4D has a free tier; the other does not. Paid plans start at Free for Pix4D and On request for Reconstruct.
- Does Pix4D or Reconstruct run on more platforms?
- Pix4D runs on Windows, Macos, Linux, Ios, Android, Web. Reconstruct runs on Web, iOS, Android.
- Can I use Pix4D for free?
- Yes. Pix4D has a free tier, so you can try it without paying. Reconstruct starts at On request.
- What is Pix4D best used for?
- Pix4D is most often used for photogrammetry from drone imagery into orthomosaics and point clouds, survey-grade 2d maps and 3d models with pix4dmapper, rapid 2d mapping for emergency response with pix4dreact, multispectral crop analysis with pix4dfields. Of those, photogrammetry from drone imagery into orthomosaics and point clouds and survey-grade 2d maps and 3d models with pix4dmapper are not what Reconstruct is typically brought in for.
- What can Pix4D do that Reconstruct cannot?
- Pix4D covers Photogrammetry, 3D modeling, Point clouds, Orthomosaics. Reconstruct covers Device-agnostic capture, Photogrammetry and mesh generation, 4D schedule alignment, Design overlay.
Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Pix4D: What is the lowest-cost PIX4D subscription?
PIX4Dreact starts at $55/month and produces accurate 2D maps from aerial imagery processed in minutes. Subscriptions are available on monthly, yearly, or 3-year billing cycles.
SourceReconstruct: How much does Reconstruct cost?
Not published. It is quoted per project or portfolio. Ask specifically whether the price scales by project count, square footage or capture volume, because those give very different totals.
Pix4D: Does PIX4D offer a free trial?
Yes, PIX4D provides a 15-day free trial with no credit card required to test the software before committing to a subscription.
SourceReconstruct: Do we need a drone or a laser scanner?
No. It works from 360 cameras and even smartphone video. Drones and scanners improve exterior and accuracy-critical coverage.
Pix4D: What payment methods does PIX4D accept?
PIX4D accepts credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link globally. Regional options include bank transfers, SEPA Direct Debit for Europe, ACH transfers for the US, and country-specific payment methods.
SourceReconstruct: How accurate is it?
Accurate enough for progress, coordination and dispute evidence. It is not a substitute for survey-grade laser scanning where tolerances matter.
Reconstruct: Who owns the captured data at closeout?
The customer. Confirm the export format and retention terms in the contract before handover, because a reality archive is only useful if you can still open it in five years.
Reconstruct: Does it replace Procore?
No. It integrates with Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud and adds the visual as-built layer.
