Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
MyFitnessPal
- Free tier limited to 5 food entries per day unless premium subscriber
- Limited offline functionality - cannot search new foods or scan barcodes without internet
- Database accuracy issues reported at approximately 15% error rate
- Data export only available via desktop web browser, not mobile app
Veo
- The camera has to be present, so away fixtures at grounds without a Veo produce no footage and half the season goes unrecorded unless the opposition also owns one.
- Automatic tracking degrades in rain, low light, snow and when the tripod is mounted too low, and a poorly tracked match is close to unwatchable.
- Uploads are large and depend on the club broadband, so processing after a weekend of fixtures can take hours and rural clubhouses are the worst affected.
- The subscription is the product; if it lapses, the camera you bought becomes a recording device with nowhere useful to send the footage.
- Filming amateur sport almost always means filming minors, and the club is the party responsible for consent, retention and who can access the footage, not the vendor hosting it.
