  • It is built specifically for till-level retail and restaurant loss prevention and is a poor fit for campus, industrial or office security, so an operator with a mixed estate needs a second platform for the head office.

Motorola Solutions. It sits in the same video security portfolio as Avigilon, Pelco and Openpath.

VMware Carbon Black: Who owns Carbon Black now?

Broadcom. It acquired VMware in November 2023, and Carbon Black now sits in Broadcom's enterprise security business alongside Symantec. VMware branding is being phased out.

Envysion: What makes it different from a cloud camera service?

The point of sale integration. Exception reports link a void, refund or discount directly to the clip of that transaction, which is what makes multi-site review practical.

VMware Carbon Black: Why do the docs use names I do not recognise?

The product has been renamed repeatedly. CB Defense is now Endpoint Standard, CB ThreatHunter is Enterprise EDR and CB LiveOps is Audit and Remediation. Older community answers and runbooks still use the previous names.
