- Self-serve pricing is gone: the old causal.app pricing page now redirects to a Lucanet solution page, so what was a transparent product you could sign up for is an enterprise sales conversation with no published rate.
- The variable-based model is a genuine departure from spreadsheet thinking, so an accountant fluent in Excel must relearn how to express a model, and the team members who could previously all edit the forecast often cannot at first.
- Deep Excel compatibility is limited by design; complex existing workbooks with macros, circular references or heavy lookups do not import cleanly and have to be rebuilt, which turns a tool evaluation into a modelling project.
- Consolidation, statutory reporting and multi-entity currency handling are weaker than in dedicated corporate performance management suites, so a group with several legal entities usually needs Lucanet’s other modules alongside it, raising the real cost well past the planning tool alone.
Lemon Squeezy

Causal: Does Causal still exist?
The product does, as Lucanet xP&A. The independent Causal brand and self-serve offering have been retired following the October 2024 acquisition.
Lemon Squeezy: Does using Lemon Squeezy mean I never have to register for VAT?
It means you do not have to register in the buyer's country for those digital sales, because Lemon Squeezy is the seller there. You still have your own home country obligations on the income you receive, and your accountant treats the payouts as your revenue less a cost of sale.
Causal: What does it cost now?
Nothing is published. The former pricing page redirects to Lucanet, and the product is quoted as part of the Lucanet CFO Solution Platform.
Lemon Squeezy: How is this different from using Stripe directly?
Stripe is a payment processor, so you remain the seller and the tax obligations are yours. Stripe Tax will calculate rates but does not register or file for you. Lemon Squeezy takes the seller position and the filings, which is why it costs more.
Causal: Can I import my existing Excel model?
Simple workbooks import. Models with macros, circular references or heavy lookup chains have to be rebuilt around named variables, which is the real migration cost.
Lemon Squeezy: Stripe acquired Lemon Squeezy. Does the product still exist?
Yes, it continued to operate as a distinct product after the 2024 acquisition. As with any acquired product, treat long term roadmap commitments cautiously and keep your customer and subscription data exportable.

Card details are held by the merchant of record, not by you, so moving subscribers to another platform generally means asking existing customers to re-enter payment details rather than migrating tokens. Plan for churn at the switch.

The payout statements break out gross, tax, fees and refunds, which is enough for a competent bookkeeper. There is no direct posting into a general ledger, so expect a manual or scripted journal each month.
