The short version
- Each has a real cost: BrightHire zoom acquired BrightHire on 1 December 2025, so an organisation standardised on Microsoft Teams or Google Meet is now depending on a competitor of its meeting platform to keep supporting it, and should get that commitment in the contract.; Bullhorn pricing is per user on annual contracts with minimum seat counts, so agencies with seasonal consultants pay for licences that sit idle for months.
- They diverge on capability: BrightHire covers Interview recording and transcription, Bullhorn covers Recruitment CRM.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 31 August 2026.

Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
BrightHire
- Zoom acquired BrightHire on 1 December 2025, so an organisation standardised on Microsoft Teams or Google Meet is now depending on a competitor of its meeting platform to keep supporting it, and should get that commitment in the contract.
- Pricing is quote only and mixes recruiter and hiring manager seats with a usage component tied to interview volume, so a company with a lumpy hiring plan cannot forecast the annual cost with any accuracy.
- Recording interviews requires candidate consent and creates a retention obligation, which in Germany, France and several US states means a works council or legal review before the tool can be switched on.
- Hiring managers are the least frequent users but often need seats to review reels and transcripts, so seat-based pricing charges most for the people who log in a few times a quarter.
- Analytics measure process compliance, such as question coverage and talk time, not hiring outcomes, so it will tell you your interviews are consistent long before it tells you they are predictive.
Bullhorn
- Pricing is per user on annual contracts with minimum seat counts, so agencies with seasonal consultants pay for licences that sit idle for months.
- The product estate has been assembled through a decade of acquisitions, which leaves overlapping modules, inconsistent interfaces and more than one supported way to do the same task.
- Implementation and data migration are multi-month projects requiring paid services, and agencies moving from another system routinely underestimate the effort of cleaning candidate and client records first.
- The interface is dated relative to newer recruitment tools, and consultants coming from consumer-grade software need real training rather than picking it up unaided.
- It is built for agency economics and is a poor fit for corporate in-house hiring, where the client and margin concepts are meaningless and the licence cost buys capability that will never be used.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
BrightHire: Who owns BrightHire?
Zoom Communications acquired it on 1 December 2025. It continues to operate as a standalone brand.
Bullhorn: Is Bullhorn suitable for in-house corporate recruiting?
No. It is built around client relationships, margins and placements. Corporate teams should buy a requisition-based ATS instead.
BrightHire: Does it work outside Zoom?
Yes, it runs across Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet today. Given the ownership change, ask for that in writing.
Bullhorn: Who owns Bullhorn?
Insight Partners has held a majority stake since 2012, and the company has grown substantially through acquisition since then.
BrightHire: Is pricing published?
No. Pricing combines seats and interview volume and is quoted per organisation.
Bullhorn: Does it handle temporary worker payroll?
It captures time, calculates pay and bill rates and produces payroll and invoicing outputs. Actual payroll processing is done by a payroll provider it exports to.
BrightHire: Do candidates have to consent to recording?
Yes, and in several jurisdictions you will also need employee representative or legal sign-off before deployment.
Bullhorn: What does implementation involve?
Data migration, workflow configuration and training, typically several months for an established agency, with services charged on top of the licence.
