Indian cloud telephony and contact centre platform sold as prepaid credit bundles
As of 31 August 2026, Exotel's pricing is not published; the vendor quotes on request. Cloud calling, IVR, SMS and WhatsApp for Indian businesses, sold as prepaid bundles with a fixed validity rather than a monthly subscription. Softwr lists it under Telecommunications. Exotel is made by Exotel Techcom Pvt Ltd, available on Web, iOS, Android, API.
Overview
Exotel provides cloud telephony for businesses in India and adjacent markets: virtual numbers called Exophones, IVR, call routing and recording, click-to-call, number masking for marketplaces, SMS, WhatsApp Business messaging and a full contact centre product with agent desktops and supervisor monitoring. Its best-known capability is call masking, where two parties speak without either seeing the others number, which is how Indian ride-hailing, delivery and classifieds platforms protect customer and driver numbers. The commercial model is unusual and is the thing to understand before signing. Exotel does not sell a monthly seat subscription for its business phone system; it sells prepaid bundles with a validity window. The Dabbler bundle is 9,999 rupees for five months of validity, including a 4,999 rupee rental component, 5,000 shared credits and one Exophone for three agents. Believer is 19,999 rupees over eleven months with 9,500 credits, two Exophones and six agents. Influencer is 49,499 rupees over eleven months with 39,000 credits, ten Exophones and unlimited agents. Credits are shared across voice, SMS and WhatsApp, so a heavy messaging month drains the voice budget. Calls are billed on a pulse, commonly 30 or 60 seconds, meaning a 61 second call is charged as two minutes. Buyers are Indian consumer internet companies, lending and insurance firms, healthcare aggregators and mid-market sales teams, with growing use in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The trade-off is regional: Exotel is a strong choice inside India where it holds telecom licences, manages TRAI and DLT registration and knows local carrier behaviour, and a weak choice for a business whose calling is mostly outside those markets.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about Exotel.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

No. Credits are tied to the bundles validity period, five months on Dabbler and eleven months on the higher packs, and expire at the end of it.
Exotel operates in Southeast Asia and the Middle East as well, but India is where it holds licences, handles DLT registration and has the best rates and carrier relationships.
Yes, a seven-day trial with 500 rupees of credit and no commitment.
