No. Its stated commitment is one hundred per cent open source with no proprietary extensions, which is the main reason licence-averse buyers choose it.
Valkey: Is Valkey free?
Yes, BSD-licensed open source under the Linux Foundation.
Instaclustr: Who owns Instaclustr?
NetApp, which acquired the company in 2022. It is now branded NetApp Instaclustr.
Valkey: Why does Valkey exist?
Redis changed its licence away from BSD in 2024. Valkey is the community fork continuing under permissive terms, backed by AWS, Google Cloud and Oracle among others.
