The short version

  • Only Winio has a free tier, so it costs nothing to try first.
  • Each has a real cost: Hudl pricing is quoted per team, per sport and per season, so a school with a dozen programmes multiplies the cost rather than buying one institutional licence, and the negotiation happens annually for each.; Winio prices are not published on the plans page. The tiers and their discounts are shown, but the amounts load client side and are not readable without opening the checkout.
  • They diverge on capability: Hudl covers Video breakdown and tagging, Winio covers Match outcome predictions.
  • Prices and features above were last checked on 15 September 2026.

Where each one falls short

Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.

Hudl

  • Pricing is quoted per team, per sport and per season, so a school with a dozen programmes multiplies the cost rather than buying one institutional licence, and the negotiation happens annually for each.
  • Hudl Focus cameras are sold inside multi-year subscriptions that bundle hardware, so what looks like a software renewal is a three-year capital commitment that early termination does not unwind.
  • Sportscode is macOS only and priced in a different bracket, so an organisation planning to grow from the school product into elite analysis discovers a hardware and budget change rather than an upgrade.
  • Years of tagged video, highlights and athlete profiles accumulate inside the platform and export poorly, which weakens your position at every renewal.
  • Acquisitions have left overlapping products, Hudl, Wyscout, StatsBomb and Instat among them, with roadmaps that are not always clear to customers who bought them separately.

Winio

  • Prices are not published on the plans page. The tiers and their discounts are shown, but the amounts load client side and are not readable without opening the checkout.
  • Coverage is narrow: Dota 2, CS2 and football, with other titles described as future plans rather than shipped.
  • The free tier is 2 predictions, which is enough to evaluate the interface and not enough to judge the model.
  • Real-time forecast updates during a match and the live forecast chart are advertised as a Premium subscription still in development, not something you can buy today.
  • No public API, so the forecasts cannot be pulled into your own analysis.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages

Hudl: How much does Hudl cost for a school?

It is quoted per team, per sport and per season across tiers, so the answer depends on how many programmes you cover. Ask for the full multi-sport figure rather than a single team price.

Winio: What data does Winio's model use?

Three years of historical match data across Dota 2 and CS2, totalling more than 350,000 matches, plus live tournament data from official providers. Bookmaker odds are explicitly not used as an input to the model.

Source
Hudl: Is the Focus camera rented or bought?

In practice it is bundled into a multi-year subscription. Read the term and the early termination clause, because the hardware cost sits inside it.

Winio: How accurate are the predictions?

Winio does not publish a single accuracy figure and states that it "does not predict exact match outcomes. The platform calculates probabilities, and is transparent about its confidence level." A public archive of past forecasts against results is available on the site.

Source
Hudl: Does Sportscode run on Windows?

No. It is macOS only, which is a genuine budget item for an organisation moving up from the school product.

Winio: Which games are covered?

Dota 2, CS2 and football, with the platform stating plans to expand into additional esports titles and sports disciplines over time.

Source
Hudl: Can I take my video with me if I leave?

Individual clips can be downloaded, but the tagged structure, playlists and athlete profiles do not travel well, and that is a deliberate feature of the renewal conversation.

Winio: What do you get without paying?

Two predictions and access to basic statistics. The Core subscription lifts that to unlimited predictions for all matches, detailed breakdowns, full tournament, team and player analytics, and a personal manager with 24/7 support.

Source
Winio: How many models run per match?

Three sequential models: pre-draft using team form and head-to-head history, post-draft analysing hero and map compositions, and live using the current game state. Across the platform there are more than twenty distinct models using up to fifty variables each.
