- Frequently used indirectly through Vite, so direct use is a narrower need than the download numbers suggest

- Maintenance rests largely on one academic maintainer with grant funding, which makes long-term continuity a real consideration for anything beyond research use.

Leafmap: Is Leafmap a product?
No. It is an MIT-licensed Python package installed from PyPI or conda-forge. There is nothing to purchase.
esbuild: Does esbuild type-check TypeScript?
No. It strips types for speed and does not check them. Run tsc separately if you need type checking.
