Chemaxon: Is Chemaxon still independent?
No. It has been a subsidiary of Certara since October 2024. The products continue under the Chemaxon name.
Terra: Is Terra really free?
The platform is. There is no licence fee. Everything you pay is Google Cloud or Azure compute, storage and egress, passed through at cost.
Chemaxon: Is the academic licence really free?
The education package is free for two-year terms covering a class or faculty. Non-commercial research groups pay a discounted commercial academic licence.
Terra: What actually drives the bill?
Running virtual machines and stored data. Pausing notebooks drops a virtual machine from about 0.22 to about 0.027 dollars an hour, and deleting intermediate workflow outputs is the other main saving.
Chemaxon: Can I ship Chemaxon inside my own software?
Yes, but embedded redistribution is licensed separately from internal use and must be negotiated.
