Transcend
Cybersecurity
Privacy request automation, consent and AI governance across internal systems

The short version
- Each has a real cost: Camio the 4.99 US dollars per camera per month starting rate is genuinely a starting rate: Flex add-ons run from 1 to 89 dollars per stream per month, so a busy camera with detailed vehicle labelling can cost more than fifteen times a quiet one and a site budget built on the headline number will be badly wrong.; Transcend value is proportional to integration coverage, so every bespoke internal service needs a connector that your engineers build and then maintain, and the automation promise degrades quietly each time an internal API changes and nobody updates the connector.
- They diverge on capability: Camio covers Natural language video search, Transcend covers Data subject request automation.
- Prices and features above were last checked on 1 September 2026.

What people use each for
The jobs each tool is most often brought in to do.
Camio
- A warehouse that needs an alert when a trailer door opens outside scheduled hours rather than a recording nobody watchesnot Transcend
- A retailer investigating a shrink pattern who needs to find every instance of a behaviour across a month of footagenot Transcend
- A manufacturer wanting a safety alert when a person enters a machine zone during a runnot Transcend
- A property manager who wants search and alerting on an existing camera estate without replacing recordersnot Transcend
Transcend
- A consumer app processing millions of user records that has to delete a user across a warehouse, a CRM, a support desk and three internal services within a statutory deadlinenot Camio
- A privacy team that currently fulfils requests by emailing system owners and wants machine evidence that deletion actually occurrednot Camio
- A company wiring consent signals through to advertising and analytics platforms so refused consent is honoured downstream rather than only at the bannernot Camio
- An organisation putting policy controls on which customer data models and internal agents may read, ahead of an AI governance auditnot Camio
Where each one falls short
Documented limitations, not opinions. Every one is a constraint you would hit in normal use.
Camio
- The 4.99 US dollars per camera per month starting rate is genuinely a starting rate: Flex add-ons run from 1 to 89 dollars per stream per month, so a busy camera with detailed vehicle labelling can cost more than fifteen times a quiet one and a site budget built on the headline number will be badly wrong.
- Camio is analytics and search, not a full video management system, so most sites still need a recorder or VMS alongside it and end up with two products and two bills.
- The Camio Box gateway must sit on the same local network as the cameras, which means a device, power and network port at every site, and multi-site estates multiply that install work.
- It is a small private company against Verkada, Eagle Eye and the analytics bundled free into major VMS platforms, so it is structurally exposed to an incumbent bundling equivalent capability at no extra charge.
- Analytic accuracy depends heavily on the existing cameras’ placement, resolution and lighting, and cameras installed years ago for recording rather than for computer vision often produce detection rates that disappoint against the demo.
Transcend
- Value is proportional to integration coverage, so every bespoke internal service needs a connector that your engineers build and then maintain, and the automation promise degrades quietly each time an internal API changes and nobody updates the connector.
- Pricing is quoted and scales with data volume and integration count, so the cost grows precisely as the company grows, and there is no public anchor to negotiate against at renewal.
- It is deep on fulfilment and consent but thinner than OneTrust on wider governance, third party risk and ethics programme management, so a large enterprise privacy office may end up running two vendors.
- Deployment requires engineering time to install and authorise integrations into production data stores, which means the privacy team cannot buy and implement it alone and the project competes with engineering roadmap.
- Automated deletion against production systems is a destructive operation, so organisations without good staging environments and confident data ownership move slowly and often run the tool in advisory mode for months before letting it execute.

Answered from the vendors’ own pages
Camio: Do I have to buy Camio cameras?
No. Camio works with ONVIF and RTSP cameras you already have, which is the main reason to choose it over camera-bundled AI platforms.
Transcend: How is Transcend different from a subject request ticketing tool?
It executes the request against your systems through integrations rather than routing a task to a person. That is the whole product, and it is why the deployment requires engineering involvement.
Camio: Do I have to buy the Camio Box?
Not necessarily. The gateway software can be downloaded onto hardware you already own; Box and Box Pro units are for sites needing more processing capacity.
Transcend: What does it cost?
Nothing is published. Reported deals begin around 10,000 US dollars a year and rise with data volume, integration count and modules such as AI governance.
Camio: What does it really cost?
Plans start at 4.99 US dollars per camera per month, but Flex add-ons run from 1 to 89 dollars per stream per month, so per-camera cost varies enormously by traffic and labelling detail.
Transcend: Can it replace OneTrust?
For subject rights, consent and data mapping, often yes. For third party risk, ethics reporting and wider GRC programme management it is narrower.
Camio: Does Camio replace my recorder?
No. It adds search and alerting. Continuous recording and evidence retention usually still need a VMS or recorder.
Transcend: Does it handle unregistered systems?
It scans for personal data silos rather than relying solely on a declared inventory, which routinely surfaces systems the privacy register did not contain.
