Zen Planner: Better when the organisation is a membership business with recurring billing rather than seasonal teams

Team scheduling and communication for volunteer-run sport, with a separate quoted product for clubs and leagues
As of 31 August 2026, TeamSnap is free to use. The application most youth sport parents already have on their phone, sold per team on published plans with an advertising-supported free tier. Softwr lists it under Sports. TeamSnap is made by TeamSnap, Inc., available on Web, iOS, Android.
Overview
TeamSnap handles the administration a volunteer coach or team manager does: rosters, schedules, availability tracking, match and training reminders, team messaging, photo sharing and simple payment collection between team members. It runs as a mobile application for parents and players with a browser interface for the organiser. Separately, TeamSnap for Clubs and Leagues covers organisation-level registration, payments, scheduling across many teams, websites and communication, sold on quotation rather than on the published team plans. The commercial structure is worth understanding before comparing prices. The free team plan is supported by advertising shown to parents. Paid team plans are per team per month, billed annually, which means a club with fifteen teams paying individually spends more than it would on the organisation product while getting less. And on the club side, a significant share of the revenue comes from processing registration payments, so the platform fee is only part of what an organisation pays across a season; the rest is a percentage of every family registration that passes through. The buyer at the team level is a volunteer, usually a parent, whose alternative is a group chat and a shared spreadsheet, and price sensitivity at that level is absolute. The trade-off is depth: statistics, scoring, video and performance analysis are thin or absent, and organisations with real governance requirements, background screening, insurance and national body registration among them, will find TeamSnap covers scheduling and communication well and the compliance machinery not at all.
The honest half
Concrete and checkable, so you can decide whether any of them matter to you. This is the half of a review a vendor will not write about TeamSnap.
Cross-shopped
Each pairing was judged by two reviewers asking whether a buyer would genuinely weigh the two against each other. The ones that failed were deleted rather than published.

Each answer names the page it came from, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.
Yes, and it is paid for by advertising shown to parents and players in the application. Removing the advertising is one of the reasons teams upgrade.
No. If you have more than a few teams, the club and league product costs less in total and gives you consolidated rosters, registration and scheduling.
The platform fee plus a processing percentage on every payment. Model the processing on your expected registration volume before comparing quotations.
Barely. It is an administration and communication tool, not a performance one.

Softwr does not host reviews and shows no star rating for TeamSnap, because a rating we did not collect is not ours to publish. What is here is the pricing and platform detail from the vendor’s own pages, limitations we could state concretely, and alternatives a reviewer confirmed people weigh against it.
