What NetSuite does
NetSuite is a cloud enterprise resource planning suite owned by Oracle, covering financial management, inventory and order management, procurement, CRM, professional services automation and e-commerce on a single database. It was one of the first cloud business applications and remains the most widely deployed cloud ERP in the mid-market. The single database is the substantive claim. In most growing companies finance, inventory and sales each run on separate systems that agree with one another only after somebody reconciles them, and the reconciliation is the actual job. NetSuite removes that by holding one set of records, which is why it is bought most often at the point where month-end close has become a multi-week exercise rather than at the point where any single system has failed. It is also bought defensively. Companies approaching an audit, a funding round or an acquisition need financials that stand up to examination, and an ERP of record is part of that. That motivation explains why NetSuite implementations are frequently justified on governance rather than efficiency, and why the buyer is often a CFO rather than an operations lead.

What does NetSuite actually cost?
Not published. The structure is a base platform licence plus per-user licences plus modules, on an annual contract, with implementation quoted separately. The implementation frequently matches or exceeds the first year licence.
Why do people complain about renewals?
Renewal increases are the most consistent complaint from NetSuite customers. The leverage is at first signature, so negotiate renewal caps into the initial contract rather than assuming the first-year discount persists.
When should a company move off QuickBooks?
Usually when reconciliation between finance, inventory and sales systems has become a recurring job rather than an occasional task, or when an audit, funding round or acquisition requires financials that withstand examination.
Is it the same as Oracle Fusion ERP?
No. Oracle owns both. NetSuite serves the mid-market; Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP targets large enterprises. They are separate products with separate roadmaps.
What is the biggest implementation risk?
Underestimating the partner effort and over-customising early. Customisation through SuiteScript is easy to add and expensive to carry, and heavily customised accounts are the ones that struggle at upgrade.
